[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Who hates to shave daily in the summer? Winter women can skip a day or two thanks to layers we wear daily to hid that unwanted hair. Thanks to Braun I was able to try the new Gillette Venus Silk Expert for free. This product uses Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) to remove that unwanted hair for good. It works by breaking the cycle of hair growth by transferring light through the skin and disables hair growth at the hair follicle. This is a 12 week program and promises significate reduction of hair within the treated area. I'm currently on week 5, and already seeing results. I'm hoping to have my summer body ready to go in a few weeks! Who wants to waste their mornings shaving everyday? Thanks to Braun I won't have to anymore.

I've had laser hair removal before at a medical, so this isn't new for me, but I've always been a bit hesitant to try it at hime This Silk expert is lightweight, easy to use, and provides clear directions. The recommendation is to use the device for 12 weeks, and I've been doing it for about 8 now. I've definitely noticed less hair growth, and that what's growing back is more sparse., so ill continue through the final 4 weeks. My skin is quite fair...any complexion products I buy are generally in the light or ivory category, and my hair is a medium brown, so this is a pretty ideal situation for this kind of treatment. There are two things I don't love about this process. The first is that you're not meant to look at the light, but you're also not meant to go over one area of skin twice. It's a bit difficult to.ensure that you're not overlapping while not looking. The other is that, if my skin was feeling at all sensitive, the sensitivity continued for days after the treatment. 2 weeks out of 8, my legs have been quite sore for 5-6 days afterward. That said, if traditional waxing is overly painful for you, this may not be the best course.

So far, so good. The set up was super easy. It really is just plug in a go. No need to wait for it to warm up or any complex set up instructions. The booklet that came with the unit was detailed and easy to follow. The unit itself is a little larger than I anticipated which makes it a bit heavy. The extra size might make it difficult to get to the tricky areas, but makes it a little easier to hang on to while in use. I tested a couple of areas using the middle setting (there are three levels to choose from based on your comfort level and skin/hair coloring) just to find out if I could handle the sensation. I was pleased to find that there is nearly no 'pain' like some other units. A quick prickly sensation that lasts about a second. There is a substantial flash of light to let you know it did its job. I really love how quiet it is. There is a fan running while in use, but its super quiet and when it flashes it sounds a bit like a photographer's flash. I plan to use this on my under arms, lower legs and possibly my forearms. My husband even expressed interest in giving it a try.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have used this unit for several weeks now as directed and the results have been amazing. I have used this specifically for my legs but will be using it for other areas after my leg treatments are finished. This product is so easy to use and you can't mess up. I have noticed less and less hair growth over the last few weeks and have found that instead of shaving my legs every 2 days, I have now begun to only shave my legs once a week, the day I use this machine. And when I do shave on the one day a week, I am not even sure I need to do it then, but you are supposed to shave before using so I just do. It is going to be a great summer with low maintenance hair-free legs. Next up....armpits!

I think I made a bigger production of using the Gillette Venus Silk-expert than was necessary. I didnt shave for an entire week and announced to my husband that I was not to be disturbed while using for the first time. I showered shaved and then broke out the Gillette Venus silk-expert. It's actually very easy to use and extremely intuitive. I really like how the lights on the side light up blue or red while using to guide you and let you know if you are getting the right amount of contact. The gliding method over the larger, smoother areas worked well. The direct contact on singular areas was easy as well although there is a bit of a snap to it, I like the glide method better but I appreciate being able to cover a lot of different areas. The idea of not having to shave is extremely appealing and I'm looking forward to using this again.

It is not for use on recently tanned skin, which was somewhat disappointing but my tan is finally fading & I'm ready to start using the Silk Expert powered by Braun IPL hair removal device. I can tell you the packaging was nice & the actual device feels nice in the hand, it's not too heavy. I am looking forward to using this with the hopes of eliminating shaving from my daily routine, I will update after 2 weeks of use.

The Gillette Venus Silk-expert I received free from Braun is a great concept, who doesn't want to be able to receive wax-like treatments at home for a fraction of the cost?! I will admit I was initially disappointed it can't be used on the face; however, it gives off a bright light so it's understandable. It was pretty much ready to go out of the box. I decided to use it on my under arm area. The product is a little big so I feel it's a better fit to use on legs, etc. I didn't notice a huge difference in my under arm area. I can tell where it's been used but there are also areas that seem to be missed - I attribute the size of the product to this. You do need to shave before use. Overall, I give it 3 stars.

A few touch ups now and then, but WOW! I would recommend this to anyone who ever thought of laser hair removal, and those who never thought about it.

The product has a "quick" mode that you can use to glide over larger areas (like my legs), and a more targeted mode to use for smaller areas (like bikini area or underarms). I am very excited to start seeing results soon... supposedly within 3 months... I'm only a month into treatment so far. I received this product to review for free from Braun as a BzzAgent. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I'm just now getting started as the instructions mention that you shouldn't use if you plan to be exposed to the sun. I spend a lot of time in the sun so now that it's been raining for days I thought I would give it a go. I'm using it on my underarms and my husband's back. I think it mildly stings, a bit like a bee sting, but he seems to think its more painful. Regardless this is to be expected with this type of product. I haven't noticed a vast improvement in amount of hair, but haven't been able to use it as frequently as I would like because I am regularly exposed to the sun.
