[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The box was easy to open and contained the unit, power cable, a Gillette Venus razor, and the instruction manual (pictured). I read through the whole manual before I tried it to make sure I knew exactly how it worked. I was a little scared about shooting myself with a laser! The manual says to not use it on freckles, moles, dark spots, etc. I am fair skinned with dark hair (the ideal for using this product), but I have a ton of freckles and moles on my legs, so using it on my legs without hitting one of those is impossible. Also the manual stated that you should avoid sun exposure for 7 days on the treatment area. This is probably doable in the winter, but it's summer now and a lot of my body is getting sun exposure every day. So I recommend that if you want to do arms or legs to start use this product in the winter so you can follow that rule. Due to this I decided to use this on my underarms and bikini area. I followed the instructions and prepared by shaving the treatment areas with the included razor. I plugged it in and a loud fan starts to run. Figuring out how to do the treatments took a little practice, but I feel like I had mastered it by the third time using the unit. At first it is hard to figure out if you are putting the treatment areas close enough together, but you can see the areas you missed as the hair glows back in. For me some areas had finer hair and slower growth, then there were strips between these areas with normal hair, so I could see I needed to do the treatments closer together. The treatments feel like when you accidentally touch your curling iron to your skin for a second (really hot, but it doesn't burn). For me the skin looked the same after being treated and wasn't even red. There was also a slight burned hair smell. I have done three treatments one week apart so far and I'm seeing results. The hair coming in is finer and growing slower. I'm going to continue using the unit because it's so nice not to have to shave my underarms every day! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have now been using the Venus Silk-expert Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) system for over 8 weeks now. I continue to be impressed with my results. It is safe, fast and effective. The system is super easy to use, straight out of the box. I just prep the skin before by shaving to remove any traces of visible hair, plug in the device and 3 bars will light up and you will hear the fan running. Then I press the treatment window against my skin and then the treatment button. The device will flash and you'll feel a warm sensation, continue moving the device along the skin until the entire area is treated. That's it! Since using this device for 8 weeks I've seen a great reduction in hair growth, not completely hairless but so much better. I will continue using this device each week until I'm completely satisfied with the hair removal. Overall this is the best device I've ever used to get rid of hair permanently!

My hair on my legs is growing in slower and less of it. I am not needing to shave as often. Yay! The grip is a little awkward and larger than I like but the more I do it the easier it is.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received my Venus Silk Expert for free from Braun. After several weeks of use,(I believe 8 weeks), I think more treatments are still necessary. I was a little intimidated when I read through the pamphlet enclosed in the box, so I stuck with the gentle setting, which could impact the results I'm sure. I don't consider the treatments to be painful, maybe just a tingling sensation. It appears I have areas on my legs that the treatments were effective on, as there's currently no longer any hairs that I can see.. I'm anxious to continue using the silk expert and attempt my bikini line, as well as my underarms, and maybe someday be "hair free"

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've been using the Venus Silk-expert for over a month now. I used in on my underarms. The directions were easy to follow. The pulsating light felt warm with a little sting every time I pressed the treatment button. I became used to it very quickly though. The light is a little bright so I would not recommend looking at it directly. I used it once a week and noticed a significant decrease in the number of hairs growing back under my arms. It's so easy to use and I'm so happy that I don't have to shave every other day anymore. I can't wait to try it on other parts of my body.

I have used this specifically for my legs but will be using it for other areas after my leg treatments are finished. This product is so easy to use and you can't mess up. I have noticed less and less hair growth over the last few weeks and have found that instead of shaving my legs every 2 days, I have now begun to only shave my legs once a week, the day I use this machine. And when I do shave on the one day a week, I am not even sure I need to do it then, but you are supposed to shave before using so I just do. It is going to be a great summer with low maintenance hair-free legs. Next up....armpits!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I'm really impressed with the Gillette Venus Silk Expert; I've been using it weekly for about 6 weeks and I really am please with the results. The tool is easy to use and the side lights really are great at guiding you along the way. They make it extremely easy to know when you are doing it correctly. The results have been great, hair growth has definitely slowed down and the re-growth I experience is softer. Not very coarse.

Presentation and packaging was beautiful! Excited to give it a go upon arrival! Used today for the first time on my legs, underarms, and bikini line. I used normal strength on legs and the gentle cycle on my underarms, and bikini line. Very easy to use! There was a slight warm feeling, but not uncomfortable . I also wore my sunglasses, as the pulseing light was bright. I may invest in darker protection sun glasses. Over all- quick and easy! Looking forward to seeing results!!

First off; let me just say I was so excited to get a chance to try this out. This campaign came at a perfect time to start the treatment and be ready to go for Summer. I was thoroughly impressed with the packaging of the Gillette Venus Silk-expert; it is so nice to be able to store it in it's original packaging. On my first try with this thing I was incredibly nervous; so much so that I couldn't bring myself to actually push the button. It took me ten times to finally get the nerve to hit the button. Once I did, I couldn't help but laugh at myself as there was no pain whatsoever. This was super easy to use and I love that the light detects the skin tone and knows how much power to use. The only difficult part for me was trying to use this on my knees and ankles as both sides need to be in contact with your skin. The other warning I would give is that it does get warmer the longer you use; so perhaps using it on more sensitive areas first would be recommended. I have now used this twice; once per week. And while I have not seen results yet; I am highly optimistic that it will work.

I don't want a stranger up, close and personal in my business and touching my body. No, thank you! I especially don't want them to to be in any of my personal areas....I am just that type of person I guess. So this device for me is fabulous! It allows me to take care of hair removal on my own and not feel like I need to "bare all" to someone I have never met before. I will say though that I do feel like the size and shape could be improved. I have awkward areas that I would like to remove hair from. Toes, ankles, chin...you can't do that with a device like this as the great safety features protect you from it not going off on smaller areas. But hey- who/what doesn't have room for improvement?
