[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] First of all, I must say that I am totally stoked to give this a go!!! I read all instructions and shaved like I was told. The areas I chose were underarms, lower arms, and lower legs. I was not scared at all to try this. I did the first click on my left arm. It felt a little warm and like a very mild static shock. So I worked my way up the arm pressing the button each time and waiting for the flash. It really did not hurt- the anticipation that it would hurt was far worse than the little "shock" feeling that actually was felt. After doing my legs and arms- I can really say it was no big deal and I wondered if I did it right because it really is a piece of cake. It took about 15 min to do all the areas, but that is probable because I was working slow- I feel that it will get faster as I am more accustomed to the tool. Next time I will try the "glide method" mentioned in the manual. The only reason I am giving 4 stars is because I don't know the results. As for setting up the unit... It was simple really- just plug and play. All in all, I am happy with the experience and if I achieve the results mentioned and I don't have to shave often if at all, I will be one happy camper!!!

Would I say "amazing" results, no, but I would say willing to take the 12 week challenge like their research stated. I will say that I am a firm believer in the Venus disposable razor now though! That has held up at least 6 uses and still as good as the first time. Jury is still out but not turning back yet!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I would love to never have to shave again. Even reducing shaving from 7 days per week to 3 would be good. Maybe with the Venus Silk-expert, I have finally achieved that dream! Unfortunately, I have coarse, think hair on my legs. And it grows like a man's beard. I get five o'clock leg shadow by 8 a.m. the morning after I shave. I started using the Venus a few weeks ago. I shaved with the handy Venus razor supplied with the Silk-expert and then went to town zapping my legs. The "flash" is a bit bright, so I wear sunglasses when I use it and was glad I read the instructions, as "flashing" areas that are darker (such as scars) is a bit painful. As you cannot expose your treated skin to the sun for seven days after use, starting the treatment in the winter is perfect. By the time Memorial Day rolls around, I will hopefully be hair-free and ready for the beach.

The Gillette Venus Silk expert is a new and innovative IPL hair removal system. The device itself is small and compact but very well made. The kit comes with a hair removal guide, gillette venus razor, power supply and gillette venus cartridge. It's very easy to use. First, you prep the area to be treated by removing all visible hair and also make sure that you have no lotions or creams on the skin. A patch test is recommended, treat a small area and wait 24 hours to ensure there are no adverse reactions. Then you are good to go. Just plug the device in and 3 power bars will light up and you'll hear a fan start to run. Press the treatment window firmly against the skin, press the treatment button and you will see a flash and feel a warm sensation. Then simply move the device to the next area to be treated and repeat the steps. I do love that the device has 3 settings to chose from including normal, gentle and extra gentle which are great for sensitive areas or first time users. The device also has 2 treatments modes Gliding that allows you to quickly treat larger areas like legs, arms and back and Precision mode which is better for small areas such as bikini or underarms. I have found the device very easy to use, it does not take very long to treat areas. The small treatment window allows you to easily reach behind knees and bikini area. I did not feel any pain with the device at all. Such an easy way to deal with stubborn and unwanted hair. I'm really excited to see the full results in the following weeks!

I just received my Gillette Venus Silk-expert IPL and am super excited to use it. I've had laser hair removal done professionally in the past, and was happy with the results. It didn't completely remove hair, but did reduce it to a level I'm happy with. I'm hoping for the same results with this home version. I just started treatment and will review again in 12 weeks with results. This review will focus on ease of use. This IPL is VERY easy to use. It automatically detects your skin tone and adjusts the light intensity accordingly. There are built in safety features that prevent you from using it on skin that's too dark or without proper skin/IPL contact. There's a button to manually lower intensity if desired, and there's spot treatment or gliding option. There are no replacement cartridges, which makes this IPL a thriftier long-term choice. The device is very easy to use, treatment can be done quickly, and it's quiet. It's pain free on lighter hairs and very tolerable on darker, coarser hairs (think plucking with tweezers). I would advise wearing protective eye wear while using it. The flash is very bright, even when looking away, so better safe than sorry. I'll review again in 12 weeks with results!

I am noticing that I do not have to shave as often. I used to shave my legs every day and I'm now able to do them every other to every three days. I'm hoping that after a few more uses it will be once a week. I really like this and think it's worth using.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I will admit I've become extremely lazy when it comes to shaving my legs so I was pretty excited to try the Venus Gillette Silk Expert IPL which was sent to me free by Braun. The instructions were very easy to follow . The only prepping you need to do is to shave prior to using the IPL system. The device has two modes. One which is for gliding , such as on your legs . The other mode is for spot treatment which I used on my knees. The device warms up a little and when using it feels like a tiny zap. By no means uncomfortable . It also let out a burned scent however that decipitated quickly. The instructions indicate that you'll see results in as little as eight weeks . Once again , thanks to Braun for this free device . I'm very excited to getting back to you all with my eight week results .

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've been using the Gillette Venus Silk-expert for 4 weeks now and the result is remarkable. I am still shaving, but only once per month. It is very easy to use. However, if you do have a tattoo, please make sure that you DO NOT touch it with the Silk-expert. It is in the instructions, but I need to stress this. I have found that when going around the boney parts of the leg, it is easier to turn the device sideways.

This is a lot larger than it looks in the advertisements, however I did not think it was heavy. After reading the instructions I was a little afraid to use it, as all the warnings scared me. When j first tried it I put it on gentle, I could not feel a thing! Going on to the second leg it felt warmer against my skin but that was all. I am used to having to shave every other day no matter what, it has now been 4 days and there is very little new growth as of now. I believe this is a product every woman should own, I had no itching or redness after using the product, when I get my eyebrows waxed I never swell or get red either so I can't say for sure if it is my skin or if the product would be irritating. The picture shows my leg 5 minutes after treatment.

However, with Gillette® Venus® Silk-expert powered by Braun I was pleasantly surprised. My initial review stated how easy the Silk-expert was to use and I still agree with my original thoughts. This is due to the fact that there is not assembly or cartridge, it's really light weight and you don't have to think about which intensity you need to be at in order to effectively use the machine. I've been using the Silk-expert to remove underarm hair for about 5 weeks now and the results are incredible. I actually started seeing results after the 3rd week of use. I noticed that my underarm hair was taking longer to grow. Now I'm at a point where there are only a couple of stray hairs growing. I'm so happy that I was able to test out this product! I also want to mention that anyone who is going to use the Gillette® Venus® Silk-expert powered by Braun needs to shave the area they will be using it on. This step is crucial to the Silk-expert working. This is because the laser pulses need to catch the hair in an active growth phase in order for it stop the growth. If you have never used a laser hair removal system I should note that there is a "zap" when you activate the machine, which might slightly hurt depending on the intensity the silk-expert needs to kill the hair follicle. Personally, I've used both at-home and spa laser hair removal systems, which hurt so much more than the Silk-expert. With the silk-expert I felt more of a warm sensation than actual pain.
