Customer reviews for Wisenet 16-Channel 5MP DVR Surveillance System with 2TB Hard Drive, 10-Camera 5MP Indoor/Outdoor Cameras forVerified Purchase
Great system for the price
We have had these for a couple of weeks now and got 7 of the 10 cameras hooked up. All have been recording and working almost flawlessly the entire time. We have had to reboot our DVR a couple of times, but ended up changing the schedule so that it automatically reboots every night and since doing that, have not had to manually reboot it. Even when that was required, the DVR was working fine, it was our app and website that we were unable to log in to that prompted it. When you do reboot the DVR it's very fast, I'm not even sure if it takes more than 1 minute. We have not had any problems hooking up the cameras and the picture is definitely good enough for our purposes. We've played video back on all the cameras we have hooked up and have had rain multiple times since installation and have had no problems. We also use the app on our phones and the website to view. One negative is that only one person can be logged in to the system at a time but in our case, there's only 2 of us so it's not too big of a deal. We did also disable notifications because you get notified for EVERYthing that moves including shadows and setting up zones that would not record upon motion really wouldn't help that situation. For the price, I definitely recommend this system.

Wisenet Survellance System
Purchased this system for my Automotive shop and could not be happier. System installation was relatively easy and gives me the necessary security for my shop.
Great video for the price.
I would have given this 5 stars except the Wisent Life app needs some work. Only 1 person can view the dvr at a time. They logged a suggestion to the engineers to change that. Also it will only allow 1 HD (2TB) which gives you approx 9.6 days for recording will all 10 camera's running 24/7. In addition you have to get written permission to install a larger drive. No where in the documentation you get does it tell you this; the only reason I know is I was asking the tech guy how long it would record and if I could put a second drive in. That's when I found out it only allows for 1 drive and you will void the warranty if you open the case. In the documents it tells you how to change out the HD which I find odd since if you do, you void the warranty. Now on to the good stuff. The video quality is great. Night video is awesome, it stays color longer than most units and if you have security lights and they come on, they provide enough light to turn the color guns back on. Setup was relatively easy. The wizard worked great. They are working on their DDNS ability now. The DVR is set up to do it but the backend isn't. While I'm waiting to get approval to put a larger drive in, I changed 4 of the camera's to do motion only. This allowed me to get 15.1 days of recording which should be good enough for me to be able to pull any questionable issues. The search function on the motion is great you key in a date and time span and pick the channel and it brings up all the detections it recorded. I went in and sent the sensitivity level so it wouldn't pick up the cars going by and it is working great. I did the install over 2 days. I set up the dvr and tested it before installing any camera's. I suggest doing this because even as quick as the setup wizard is there will still be some things you will need to set manually i.e. email, user accounts, notifications etc. By doing it over 2 days you don't feel rushed. I used one cable to install all the camera's and get them pointed exactly where I wanted them. I then went back and ran the cables. Just make sure you don't place a camera more than 60ft. This shouldn't be a problem if you kind of lay the cable on the ground matching the contour of where it will be permanently installed..
Bought two systems
We bought one system about three months ago, and installed it alongside our old Samsung SDS-P5100 system. We liked the new system so much that we bought another one (one for the front of our property and one for the back--21 cameras now installed with 11 channels spare). The following applies to both new systems: Pros: Spectacular images, both night and day, normal and zoomed. Easy to install except for running cables (in my case 16 cables were already there). System supports the old cameras mixed with the new ones. Ghosting (on images on our old system due to connector issues in long buried cables in our back yard) are not present in the new system. No technical breakdowns so far. The Wisenet Life App is easy to set up on iPhone using the QR code on the DVR. You need two passwords--one for your account, one for the DVR. The App supports both our DVRs. The DVR supports a wireless mouse (e.g. Logitech M325). Don't even think about using the supplied remote control, which is poor. The supplied mouse has a cable that's too short if you're not at a desk. This system is dirt cheap in cost, but not cheap in performance. Its a wonderful bargain. Wisenet support is very responsive if you have questions. Cons: Documentation is not very good (but help is available--see above). Setup and search screens are hard to read due to a poor choice of font color and size, with no options to change. Even the mouse pointer is very hard to see on the screen. We are using a 65 inch television as our monitor, but cannot see some of the the text across our living room. The DVRs need an accessibility option such as Samsung TVs have. Overall, the old SDS-P5100 had a far superior user interface. The 2 TB disk holds only one week of recording with 12 cameras. The DVR cooling fans are very noisy, roughly the same sound level as a running refrigerator compressor. The Wisenet Life App is an iPhone battery hog even when not in use. We keep it off our iPhones unless near a charger or really need to view the cameras remotely. It is easy to download from the App Store and log in when needed. The DVR supports only one App user at a time.

Excellent product when it works.
Great when it works, however some cameras go offline for no reason and then come back on an hour or longer afterwards. This could defeat the whole purpose of having a recorded history in case of theft. High camera resolution and wide view, but it should be more dependable.
Terrible operating system. Weak Hardware.
We've been using this Wisenet system for about 3 months and I'm just not impressed. We have two other wired systems in place and a wireless system and all the others are easier to use and far more intuitive. It's ridiculous that I have to mouse in a 13 character, non repetitive, alpha numeric password on a keyboard that doesn't display letters and numbers simultaneously just to review 10 seconds of video. When you change the day it deselects the camera you're watching so you have to keep changing the day then change the camera every time. Actually the software is aggravating is so many little ways it's hard to describe. Now I have two cameras going out and one of the channels can't be selected to review even though it's recording and you can see it if you select another channel and they happen to have motion at the same time. I guess I need to take it down and return the whole thing but it's just a pain changing out 10 cameras.
I wish I could award negative numbers.. DISASTER
We bought this system 2 weeks ago and installed it according to the very poor instructions. In summary: Daytime camera performance is adequate, but nighttime is an absolute disaster. The cameras alarm even with the sensitivity turned down. 2 of our cameras have mysteriously stopped working. The instructions are poor (being very generous here) and offer little to no help in setting up the system. The HDD and camera transformers run extremely hot. Not warm, hot. In short, I wish I could have the 3 days back that it took to install this system in our home. This is a collection of poorly thought out components that cannot perform around the clock. We will be removing this system and seeking a refund. TOTAL DISASTER!
Horrible User Interface & Directions on How to Use
The set-up is easy, as long as you know how to run electrical wires. The pictures are acceptable so far. However, other than the Quick Start Guide there is very little information on how to modify settings and utilize the smartphone interface. The website offers only the same Quick Start Guide for a download and there is no further information. I'm a better than average technically savvy person and I am struggling to figure this all out! Forget calling customer support - nobody to speak with and as previous reviews state leaving a message is useless!! I'm guessing that I've gotten exactly what I paid for in the device...that is, something that's really not worth it. BUYER BEWARE!!!
the WORST customer service on the planet
I have called and called and left my number to have someone call me and nothing NOTHING.... My camera saturation is purple in the day time( if you like purple Samsung is for you) Wisnet/Samsung shame on you , you win the award of the WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE...
