Although they are labeled for deserts, I use them for appetizers, children's plates, samples, etc. They're plenty sturdy and hold up well with cold and hot food items. I also use these for arts and craft projects with my children.

I don't have a set of dishes for 20 people, so these were the perfect solution for the occasion. These plates are the perfect size and depth for a desserts or fruit. I also use them as plates for the little kids, as they dont eat much and have a hard time with normal size plates. Also the quality is so good. They are durable and not flimsy at all.
