Although they are labeled for deserts, I use them for appetizers, children's plates, samples, etc. They're plenty sturdy and hold up well with cold and hot food items. I also use these for arts and craft projects with my children.

It's not worth buying the cheap plates where you may think get more because you end up using double and they still can't support the weight of your meal. Nothing worse than your child trying to carry their plate over to their seat and it falls on the floor. I like the Chinet designs too. Chinet prevents those spells and stains those cheap plates cant.
