There is no cross spillage for food due to the separate areas of the plates. The plates are very sturdy and leak proof which is a plus with 4 grandchildren that carry them full of food...They get a 5 STAR RATING FROM ME..They are reasonably priced as well, which makes it a FIRST CHOICE in my go to of products...all the other Chinet products are of the same high quality and standard as well. .
