Swollen tongue
1 out of 5 stars review

I won't ever buy Hormel Chili again.

I realize I'm a bit odd in that I'm allergic to onions, peppers, very spicy dishes, but I used to buy Hormel Chili only. Then you added onions & peppers. My tongue swells up so that I can hardly speak when I bite into one of those. You changed the chili and I can no longer eat it. With so many Hormel versions isn't there any that do not have the onions & peppers? I take deal with a little onion salt or powder, but cannot bite into a pepper or onion. Now I'm forced to make my own chili. Please bring back the original Hormel chili with beans minus the onions & peppers.

I would buy this over and over again.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Hormel Chili with beans is an excellent chili just to eat by itself. I love sitting with a warm bowl of chili or an cold day and this is the one that does the trick. It is a perfect combo of beef and beans.

I hope it is just a bad batch.

I picked up a case of Hormel Chili with beans and am hoping I have stumbled upon a bad batch. Reading the other reviews here my hope is starting to get dashed. I always buy a case because one or two cans is never enough when this stuff is made right. Now I have a case I don't want to finish because the first two cans have a horrible sour flavor. At first I thought it was just me but the second can a couple days later confirmed the issues. I truly hope this is only a fluke. Hormel please look into these complaints. I would hate to not be able to make chili pie for the kids using the Hormel from my childhood.

Can contents was very dry.

I have been eating Homel chili with beans for years. In the last month or so I have gotten two can that had very little liquid in the contents. The chili was very dry. It did not get better after warming. I really enjoy your chili and am providing this information with hope that it will help with quality control.

There is false advertising in the marketing of this product.

The advertising or description on store websites indicate that this product has beef as the meat. When viewing the ingredients on the can itself beef and pork are shown as the meat. This is very misleading, inaccurate and disturbing to your valued customers whose food laws do not allow the consumption of pork or pork products. Immediate action must be taken to correct this gross negligence on the part of the marketing management staff of Hormel. A review of all website descriptions on retail stores for this product should take place immediately and corrected as soon as possible.

My pantry is stocked with Hormel Chili now!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My family and I really enjoyed Hormel Chili with beans! I made a quick easy meal of Tortillas salad topped with chili, perfect for movie night. The chili has the perfect amount of beans, unlike other brands. Hormel will surely stay stocked in my pantry.

Horrible

I recently bought a can of chili as I always try to keep a can or two on hand for weekend nights when I don't feel like cooking. It took me a little while to buy the product because the labels were not the original Hormel label that I had been used to for years. You see I am 41 years old and have always been a picky eater. My tastebuds haven't changed in my older years. Hormel chili has always been the only canned chili I will eat. There are no surprises, no onions, no peppers just good ole plain chili until now. I finally bought the can that said no beans like I always get i thought well maybe the label just changed. I know after years of the same packaging sometimes changes are made. But when I opened the can last night I began to realize not only did the label change but also the product. There where small green peppers of some sort. Which have never been there before. I don't eat any kind of peppers in my food and I have been eating this same chili since I was a little girl. So I decided maybe I'll just try it ...well it was horrible not the same Hormel chili that I have grown to love since I was little. So I threw the can away in disbelief that a product could just totally change the recipe. So to makers of Hormel you have ruined a perfectly good product! Hopefully your sales will decline and you will be forced to change the recipe back to its original form.

Never will I buy Hormel Product Again

I sent an email asking why the heck did you put Soy Flour in chili and got a response of oh thank you for the suggestion. Guess what it is not a suggestion!!!! I am allergic to that crud and expect to see in desserts such Little Debbie and Hostess is flooded with that junk too. You all need to create a better warning label for Soy Flour. You done lost a consumer of all of your Hormel products. Goodbye!

Coke Zero anyone?

I have literally been eating Hormel Chili all my life. I'm 54. Dad used to make chili dogs, or just give it to us in a bowl with crackers. Mom would mix it with macaroni and put a little Parmesan on top & call it chili mac back in the 60s/70s. I went to make some chili mac yesterday. Opened the can and there was half a can of chili, with chili flavored water in the bottom of the bowl. It was flavorless and awful. With the weather turning, Hormel Chili was one of my favorite go-tos. I don't know what you guys did, but you just lost a lifelong customer. Guess, I'll start looking at Wolf brand or Chunky from now on. The end of an era. Sad!

too spicy now

All we could find was the "all natural" form of this chili, something your website doesn't even have pictured. Photo on the front of the can clearly showed a slice of jalapeno. YUCK! Those of us who want mild chili don't want chili peppers or cayenne, etc, in our chili. We are so disappointed, wondering if we'll ever have our favorite canned chili again. Neither of us enjoys getting burned by our food, so we don't enjoy spicy anything. Can you fix this back the way it used to be? For 40 years we've bought nothing but your brand of canned chili, but if this continues, that will come to an end.
