We're sorry this happened, Knells. We wouldn't expect Dawn to impart the of the product taste into food. However, it is possible if the soap isn't thoroughly rinsed off or if the dishes have become porous. If certain items always pick up a flavor, they're probably worn to the point of being porous and should be washed by hand. It might help to know that cast iron and plastic items can absorb flavors. Do not soak porous items; wash immediately and rinse thoroughly. Please rest assured that we value your feedback greatly and have already relayed it to our Research and Development team.
