HORRIBLE SMELL!!
the new scent smells absolutely horrible. my family has been using this dish soap for as long as i can remember. i don’t understand why if they wanted a new scent so bad that they didn’t just make a new bottle and leave what people know and trust alone??? i will not be purchasing the original bottle again. CHANGE IT BACK!

The Best
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I grew up using dawn, and have periodically tried other brands. I initially got this as a sample size for super cheap. Best value ever. It lasted several months. It's highly concentrated, so just a little does the trick magnificently. It also smells wonderful. I won't be switching to another brand again, because this is the best deal for the dollar, and gets things far cleaner than alternatives.
Awful new scent
As others have mentioned, I have been using Dawn Platinum for years. It no longer seems to clean as welI and the new scent is vile. I recently tried one of the Power washes but didn't notice the scent I chose. Also awful and couldn't wait to finish. Bought Power wash in Fresh Scent but thought I'd try the Platinum again since all the squeezing can be annoying. After I transferred the Platinum detergent to a smaller bottle, had to go look at the refill size bottle to see if something was wrong. Well, not at all a fan of your change and now stuck with a giant bottle.

Why did you do that??
I've been using Dawn Platinum exclusively for years, last time I purchased it I just grabbed the "big blue bottle" off of the store shelf and brought it home. A couple weeks later when my old bottle ran out I went to the pantry, grabbed my new soap, and started washing dishes. I almost fainted the smell is sooooo bad!!! It smells like an overpowering vintage perfume. Why would you do that?? Its bad enough that I'm trying to get rid of the garlic smell from my dishes and pans but once you mix the 2 together, I just cant even explain how bad it is. I give it 2 stars because I still like the cleaning power however due the smell I can not use it for my dishes. Please bring back the old formula. Only solution for this bottle would be to dilute it and add it to my bucket of floor cleaner to wash the floors.

Sickening new scent
Have loyally purchased Dawn for decades but will now be shopping for a new dishwashing soap. The new “and improved” fresh scent is immediately headache inducing and turns my stomach. It smells like overpowering, heavily scented laundry detergent - not something I’ll just get used to. What a disappointment.

why the STRONG SCENT??? Just like a VOC product
I need good dish soap--not strong perfume! The Platinum used to be a great product until it got overpowered with strong perfume! Please make an UNSCENTED VERSION!!! This new version is stronger smelling than bleach! It is awful and sets off my asthma! Dawn usually makes great products, but this new concentrated, overkill scent is awful & unusable! It is just like a VOC product--not made for indoor use--the smell is way too strong.

New scent is disgusting
Dawn new scent is terrible! The scent is an assault to my senses. I can taste it in my food when using pans and utensils washed with the new scent soap even when thoroughly rinsing with hot water. I will be switching products. Bring the original scent back and have the new scent as an option. Ick! I wouldn’t be washing wildlife with that scented soap. Why did you have to change a good product. Whoever came up with this idea of the scent change should be fired.

New scent stinks
Dawn has been our go-to dish soap for decades, but this new scent is so awful we had to pour the entire bottle down the drain. And hours later we’re still suffering from the stink. Why did you take a perfectly good product and turn it into something so horrible? If we can’t continue to buy the original scent we will stop using Dawn and switch to another brand.

Terrible new fragrance for dishes
I am so sorry I never write poor reviews, but I'm disappointed that I've heard the original scent is going to be discontinued. If I'm wrong about it being discontinued I will update my review. I have been a lifelong user of Dawn Dish Soap, 45 yrs plus. The main reason I stuck to this brand was the original left almost no smell, and as a kid it was advertised as good for the birds during oil spill cleanup, so a better more natural way to clean. When you ate food off dishes the food smelled like food. This new version leaves a smell on my dishes and hands, now when I eat my food all I smell is the fragrance. I guess I'll be sticking with it's expensive alternative of apple, which has less of a lingering perfume smell. Or I may need to find a new dish soap. Really hoping they change their mind and continue to carry the original version too.

We wouldn't expect it to impart the taste of the product into food. However, if the soap isn't completely rinsed off, or if the dishes have become porous, it is possible. If certain items always pick up a flavor, they're probably worn to the point of being porous. It might help to know that cast iron and plastic items can absorb flavors. “Refreshing Rain Scent” is anything BUT refreshing
Okay, I LOVE Dawn Platinum, but the new “refreshing Rain Scent” is awful! I just can’t stand the smell so I’ve switched to a different brand. Let me know if you bring back the original scent of the Dawn Platinum and I’ll go back to buying it, but for now, nope.
