About a year ago I bought Ragu, an old favorite, and it seemed different; I didn’t particularly like it, it was missing the familiar old flavor “punch.” The label touted Olive Oil as an ingredient, but as someone who likes Olive Oil, I didn’t see how that could be the problem. Anyway, I gave Ragu Traditional another try this week, and it was DELICIOUS. Back to the taste I recall. Ingredients no longer list Olive Oil, but I bet there were other adjustments besides that — GOOD ones. Ragu is back! (Odd that for review submission I’m required to select one of the chains you list as place of purchase, and you don’t include an Other. So I had to lie.)

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Pleasantly surprised that this was Ragu! I tend to buy more expensive jarred sauce if I don’t have time to make my own. I feel like Ragu has had a bad rap over the years, but this sauce actually is delicious and taste just as good if not better than the expensive jars I buy at the supermarket. The convenience of being able to grab it and go rather than sit there and make my own sauce from scratch is also a definite big plus love it highly recommend.

The texture and flavor are rich without being overpowering, the ingredients are quality and nutritional, and the ease of cooking makes it an enjoyable dinner for a busy mom! The jar is easy to manage one handed when you’re stirring with one hand, watching the little one, and asking your older one to set the table. Knowing Ragu is in the pantry is always a guarantee of a wonderful family meal!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] A smooth tasty sauce! Has traditional marinara flavoring with no lumps in it, which is great for a picky eater! Made with few ingredients and can be used an array of ways. Pasta, chicken parmigiana etc! Price is very fair for a yummy product.

It's a little sweeter than I usually prefer in a sauce but still pretty good, especially if you pair it with a meat of some sort. I used some chicken sausage with it and that tasted great.

While the taste hasn’t really changed over the years, I personally prefer a chunkier, more flavorful sauce. The Traditional Ragu feels a bit too bland and flat on its own, and I found myself needing to add extra ingredients like sausage and seasoning to bring it to life. Straight from the jar, it doesn’t quite deliver the richness I look for in a pasta sauce. I probably wouldn’t purchase the Traditional variety again, but I’d be interested in trying some of Ragu’s chunkier or heartier options to see if they better match my taste. Sad to leave the European world behind, I cooked some pasta using my ragu old world style traditional sauce. The true tomato and olive oil flavors transported me back to Italy. Highly recommend to anyone who wants to experience magical Italian pasta within their own dining room.

My wife, who likes to tinker with these kinds of tomato sauces thinks it makes for a good base to add to without having to fight any overpowering flavors. I'm going back for more.
