Due to other health issues, I had slacked off on my dental program over a two year period. Brushing once a day at night. Inevitably this led to bleeding gums and the signature puffy red telltale of gingivitis. I immediately started flossing again. While helpful, it wasn’t enough. A bloody mess, let’s leave it at that. I even started noticing that my gums were receding. Then I remembered Listerine. I never thought it was that intense or painful; when my mouth was healthy. It took everything I had to keep swishing for 30 seconds to a minute. But I held in and got through it. By the second week I noticed it was much less painful. Still intense, but completely tolerable. What I also noticed though was that my gums were bleeding only a tiny bit while flossing and they were starting to look a healthy shade of pink again. Unbelievable. I will never let this happen again and will continue using Listerine after flossing. To me, the pain was both a punishment for letting myself go like this and also a sign that this formula was burning out all the bacteria and germs that were causing my problems. Want a healthy mouth? If you've read the literature you know that this product has been proven to be effective. If you haven't, it's out there and readily available - I recommend going through it to bust any doubts. This applies to all products originating from the original Listerine. Aside from effectiveness, which all the products have, the original is somewhat unique. It maintains the same burn and signature taste which in your mouth, but unline the other Listerines floating around (Cool Mint, for example# once the rinse is done your mouth isn't overwhelmed by the taste of lingering mint. It's truly nice. This product keeps your mouth at neutral rather pushing it to mint. With that being said, with the original there may be some lingering burning in your mouth for about 5 minutes after use. I personally enjoy it, but you may not. Overall great product. Does what it advertises, gives me a great burn and rough taste #which I love) and keeps my breath good enough to work in retail and after 5 hours of work be able to speak to a person face-to-face without fear of funky looks.

I can't remember when I started using Listerine, but it's been a very long time. I don't feel I have completely fresh mouth until after I've used the original amber liquid....and, my gums are very healthy. Ive tried a few of the other Listerine products, but always end up coming back to this one. I only hope the company continues to make this particular version... I've been having trouble finding in my local target store lately...I'm a little worried!

My dentist recommended I start using listerine so I bought this one because it says no alcohol. I've been using it for a month. It doesn't burn too bad and I do see an improvement in my gums. However I started to notice a white film on my teeth when I woke up. I thought this was food residue (even though I floss as well) or maybe dead bacteria. After researching, I found out this product is causing my cheek skin to slough off! This could also damage the gums; I will switching to the original alcohol product.

If you want longer lasting fresh breath, then Listerine is the mouthwash to try. The original formula gives me fresher and a cleaner mouth than brushing and flossing alone. Even though it does contain alcohol this doesn't seem to “burn” as much as other alcohol based mouthwashes for some reason. Although I like the original formula, I prefer Listerine's more minty and menthol flavored one. But this is still very good

I let my supply of Listerine Regular run out--it can be hard to find--everyone with good dental sense is using it. I used another brand. Within days, my gums were bleeding and one spot is particular was very sore. Going back to Listerine--will stock up and never let my supply get below a certain level. Thank you for this product.

I had been using Listerine Original Mouth Wash for over 40 years, but I now cannot buy it in the UK. It is the ONLY Mouth Wash that works for me, other Listerine Products are useless! I am a therapist and used the product to ensure I had clean breath when working closely with clients!

Listerine Original is great for sterilizing and freshening your breath. It is also a good product if you get a toothache to sterilize the tooth while swishing to clean up and get rid of the germs. It has a strong flavor but one that you know that the Listerine is doing its job. It is a good value and the packaging is a good sturdy bottle with a lock lid for making it child proof. This Listerine doesn't have or leave a sweet taste in your mouth and it does pack a punch.
