This is an old

This is an old time favorite! I like to make it with milk, vanilla, butter, and brown sugar. I just recently tried steel cut Quaker Oats Old Fashioned while I was on vacation. I had it with fresh banana, strawberries, blueberries, and brown sugar. It was very good. Nothing like having fresh fruit from Hawaii!

Just one problem

Obviously, this is a great product; but, the packaging is a problem because the bottom of the container is not firmly attached to the sides. The result is that if the product is shipped without bubble wrap, it will rupture easily. Memo to Pepsi is to improve packaging of the product. Memo to Walmart is to use bubble wrap for cushioning rather than gobs of paper.

What happened to the texture?

My morning bowl of Quaker old fashioned oats has lost the natural texture I have grown to expect. My usual quick boil in very little water results in what looks like gummy mashed potatoes. Please...bring back the original Quaker Oats your customers have loved for do many decades.

Helps lower cholesterol!

I have the instant oatmeal each morning at work with fruit & sliced almonds. It's so easy to prepare. Add 1 cup oatmeal & cover with water plus a bit. Micro for 1 minute. Add friluit & almonds. Stir & eat! It helps lower your cholesterol. is very filling & very good for you!

Healthy and good for life.

Quaker old fashioned oats have given a lifetime of good, filling, and healthy nutrition to myself and many millions of people. There are many ways to prepare, and everybody has a favorite. Useful in baking as well as mealtime. There are a few negative reviews but a person must consider that opinions vary, and one inescapable fact is that every thing is not for everybody. They are consistently good, and reliably healthy. That's a fact. Try them different ways, there are recipes and ideas everywhere you look. If you don't like them, fine, but good luck finding a better product.

Worse oatmeal I’ve ever eaten

Not only has the package change the taste is changed and the oats has changed. They do not cook down like they should they used to be creamy. You could cook it all the way down it would turn out creamy it’s not doing that. It’s very chewy and the taste is awful definitely does not taste like oatmeal anymore. I don’t know what you’re doing to it but whatever it is it’s changed from 50 years ago.

Gag Reflex

Your Steel Cut Oatmeal has too many husk left over in it. The husk cannot be eaten and frequently get lodged in the back of the throat. When this occurs it causes choking and gagging. I have eaten other Steel Cut products and have not experienced this problem with this frequency. I would not recommend feeding your product to children unless you do a better job of removing the husk.

What happened to the Original Recipe?

Dear Quaker Oats I have been eating Quaker Oats Oatmeal for breakfast ever since I can remember and I’m now 76. Now I am eating the instant “Original Oatmeal” for breakfast every morning. Are the Quaker Oatmeal staff members “Out of their minds”. I don’t know who implemented the “NEW RECEIPT” but I, as a qualified taster, I do not care for it! To the point I may start looking for another Brand! The texture, and flavor have changed! What else is there? Unhappy Customer John

This may sound weird..

..but I discovered another use for Quaker Old Fashioned Oats. I chew it. Raw. Not sure how this really started. I think I was looking for a healthy snack I could just pop in my mouth and eat. Do NOT eat raw oatmeal, though. I found out the hard way. It’s gonna stop you up, and you’re gonna be miserable. DONT DO IT ! When I’m anxious or upset, I’d want to eat..or so I thought. What I really want to do though, is CHEW. Not swallow..not eat..I chew it and spit it out. The Old-Fashioned oats provide a deeply satisfying chew. Not only does it calm my anxiety, i’ve lost weight doing this. I’m not hungry after I chew it, because I figured out that I wasn’t really hungry to begin with. I was just stressed or anxious. Chewing relieves the anxiety without the weight gain. Of course I still eat it hot (because I love it, and always have), but I chew on it over the course of a day. A small, round container of it lasts me 2-3 days. I’ve tried the big round container twice for chewing and eating, but I’ve found it’s better for eating. Last time I got the big one, the first few handfuls did not chew like Old-Fashioned oats. They chewed like the Quick oats. It’s not as hearty of a chew, and I wasn’t happy. Once I dug my hand down further into the container, that’s when I felt the Old-Fashioned oats. Pulled out my hand, opened it, and could see the difference. Seems like the large container is topped off with Quick oats, and they seem to be mixed in to different layers in the container. That’s the only reason I didn’t give this product 5 stars. The smaller round container is all Old-Fashioned oats, so I buy that to chew, and the large container to eat hot. Say what you will, but I’m less stressed since I started doing this, and I’m about 12 lbs lighter.
