- 4 out of 5 stars review3/25/2024This product was provided for free and this review is my own opinion. Generally I liked the product but did not find is has rich and complex as its bittersweet counterpart. Though it does seem like a reliable and consistent product that would work in recipes where you might a more delicate chocolate presence. Overall, it was certainly an acceptable choice.
Solid product that's easy to use
Joe A.Originally posted onverybestbaking.com - 5 out of 5 stars review10/31/2017Chocolate chip cookies are a favorite in my house. Nestle's Toll House Morsels are my go to semi sweet morsels. They taste great and melt just right to make my cookies the best. I've tried other chocolate chips in the past but I have never gotten the results I get with Nestle. Now whenever I have a recipe requiring chocolate morsels, Nestle is the brand I choose.
Always a staple in my kitchen
harmony414Originally posted onverybestbaking.com - 5 out of 5 stars review1/25/2024I received this product for free for the purpose of my review. All opinions are my own. I had been wanting to try out a 4 ingredient bar cookie recipe I saw on Pinterest. What better way than to try it with a free sample of Nestles Toll Semi-sweet chips. These chips made the recipe! Since it had no added sugar and got it's sweetness from over ripe bananas, the semi-sweet chips gave the bars just right amount of sweetness. At least for my taste buds! Bananas and chocolate together are always a yes in my book.
Semi Sweet Morsels
Grandma BakesOriginally posted onverybestbaking.com - 5 out of 5 stars review10/31/2017About 20 years ago, I started baking Toll House Cookies. Over the years, I have adjusted the amounts of brown v. white sugar, butter/fat, and a few other ingredients to make the perfect cookie. The one thing that hasn't changed is using Nestle Toll House Chips. Perfect for any cookie or just snacking on when you are baking something that doesn't even have chocolate in it. ;)
Perfect Chocolate Chip Cookies Everytime
Dr ChefOriginally posted onverybestbaking.com - 5 out of 5 stars review11/1/2017No surprises because all nestle baking morsels are to die for. My kids and I use them all. Morsels for homemade and frozen for those times you gotta have cookies now. I miss the liquid chocolate too. But. When you bake for school or bake sale gotta to have nestle chips.
Scrumptious over and over
ScotiasGirlOriginally posted onverybestbaking.com - 5 out of 5 stars review10/31/2017I always use Toll House Chocolate Morsels for my baking during the holidays because they are so good and I can rely on them to make my holiday fudge come out great. I make it for the nursing staff and security guards at the nursing home my mother is in each year. They deserve the treats.
Chocolate Fudge
JsaltOriginally posted onverybestbaking.com - 5 out of 5 stars review11/1/2017My Gramma, my Mom, me and my daughters have used these chocolate chips in various recipes over many years! They are always delicious! They are always consistent. We have baked them in cookies, melted them into candies, frozen them into bars, all kinds of things!
Yummy every time
Mishka62Originally posted onverybestbaking.com - 5 out of 5 stars review2/25/2025Great product***Always have on hand***I use for baking and candy making***My husband and grandkids eat them straight out of the bag; which at times can be annoying---especially when I go to make something and don't realize that they have attacked my baking supplies!
Honestly I have never tried this product!
JaseOriginally posted onverybestbaking.com - 5 out of 5 stars review10/31/2017Over my seventy years, I have tried many different morsels, chocolate chunks, and other wanna-be copycat products. None can approach the flavor that Nestle semi-sweet morsels provide in either taste or texture. The results are not the same when using other products, so there's no sense in even trying something different.
The ONLY toll-house cookie morsels
SonnettinaOriginally posted onverybestbaking.com - 3 out of 5 stars review4/29/2020I used to steal these from my moms baking cabinet all the time, so I bought some to snack on. However, they stated much different than I remember not necessarily bad but not what I was hoping for, I like them more bitter like higher cocoa content. What's the highest cocoa content you sell? And are there vegan options.
I love the semi sweets but

There are no other chips on the market that compare to these! Love baking with them every holiday season and throughout the year. I've tried others in the past but wouldn't use anything else.
Best Tasting Chips Available!
DianeHJOriginally posted onverybestbaking.com - 1 out of 5 stars review8/19/2019I've baked so many Nestle Toll House cookies over the years, that I know the recipe by heart. When the mini morsels hit the market, I switched to THOSE, as I find them easier to stir into the batter. I must say that I'm deeply disappointed with the taste of the semi-sweet chips, as they now taste like milk chocolate. We, the American consumers, are NOT fooled!! You've very obviously changed the ingredients of the semi-sweet morsels. I even did a survey among my friends, to see if THEY noticed the change. Out of 22 people, everyone agreed that your semi-sweet morsels have changed in flavor and texture. I'll be switching to a different brand of chips. It's quite sad to know that Nestle has gone the way of so many other brands, who have change...
What happened to the morsels??!!!
JimiGirl59Originally posted onverybestbaking.com - 5 out of 5 stars review11/1/2017I've tried other brands to save on cost, but end up flat tasting or need more product to get the results IF I just would've stayed with Nestle Tollhouse Morsels!! No more cutting corners -for the best results I'm staying with my tollhouse chocolate chips!!
Great taste -mighty morsel
Chicka62Originally posted onverybestbaking.com - 5 out of 5 stars review11/1/2017Everyone likes to try new things, but when it comes down to it, the original Tollhouse cookies are the crowd favorite. At least at my house! I also love these chips for 7 layer bars. And I add them to banana bread. And to my butterscotch/chocolate chip cookies!
Love these Morsels!
Kristine67Originally posted onverybestbaking.com - 1 out of 5 stars review12/19/2016I think they changed something in the ingredients or source. I've had major problems with these semi-sw choc chips for the last year or so & have stopped using them. Have wasted a lot of time and money on fudge recipe that used to work like a dream. This is a recipe we have used for over 45 years and have never had problems with it. I've literally made this recipe hundreds of times. Now the chips don't melt completely, no matter how long you cook them. This recipe requires essentially boiling evap milk, butter and marshmallows for like 5 min, removing the pan from the heat and stirring in the chocolate chips. What results now are little gritty pieces of chocolate that don't melt....even if you put it back on the stove. Gross. I have had thi...
Major problems with semi-sweet chips

The deep chocolate flavor is yummy. They have the right amount of sweetness for a semi-sweet chip. They melt well for a chocolate glaze and also retain the chip shape in chocolate chip cookies.
I will definitely buy this product again and again.
Randi's treatsOriginally posted onverybestbaking.com - 1 out of 5 stars review10/4/2023Instead of saying 100% real chocolate, which is misleading and a flat out lie, they should say the percent of cacao. With the first ingredient being sugar, it is far less than 50%. Plus there are other garbage ingredients. Safeway sells their own brand which are 55% cacao - much better!
Not real chocolate
EasyEOriginally posted onverybestbaking.com - 5 out of 5 stars review10/31/2017I always have 4 to 5 packages of semi-sweet morsels on hand and 1 or 2 of dark chocolate and butterscotch morsels. I love to bake and we love chocolate: I generally bake from scratch. Whatever the mood or our tastebuds dictate , you can rest assured that Nestles semi- sweet morsels will be in the finished product!
Can't have enough on hand!
Jokester 69Originally posted onverybestbaking.com - 2 out of 5 stars review10/31/2017For many years I only used Nestle chocolate morsels and loved them. Then you changed the recipe and made them dairy and not parve. Since then I have not used them. I would be very happy if you went back to the non-dairy recipe. And most of my friends would agree.
kind of disappointed
Bubby MarOriginally posted onverybestbaking.com - 5 out of 5 stars review11/1/2017I have been using Nestlé's Chocolate Chips for over fifty years. Often I think about how many bags of chips I have opened and how much I have spent making my "famous" chocolate chip cookies, Toll House pies, and chocolate pecan pies. I say "famous" as everyone (husband, children, grand daughter, co-workers, friends, and neighbors) loves my chocolate chip cookies and request them when I ask what kind of cookies they would like. Some have tried to duplicate my cookies but say they don't turn out the same. I tell them that they must use Nestlé's Chocolate Chips and the recipe on the bag!! Often I will make a Toll House Pie when company is coming for dinner and it is always a hit. With Thanksgiving approaching, I will make my yearly Chocolate P...
