Along with the flexibility of both DVD and blue ray, this player also offers access to Netflix. The player is compact and doesn't take up much room. Its easy to hook up to any video system, which allows one to set it up and play within minutes. Picture quality is superb!!

I like the fact that I can not only use it for blurays and DVDs but also for streaming all on one device. I did have a little trouble getting it set up initially but once past that it's been great

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is the perfect little blue-ray player if you don't have a lot of space in your entertainment center or on your TV stand. It is nice and compact, but it's Sony. So it's still nice quality like the other Sony products that we own. I also think it would be great for an elderly person as it doesn't have a lot of buttons on it to confuse them. I know this is something my own mother has issues with as she is always accidently bumping the wrong button on things. It was very easy to hook up. I just needed an HDMI cable and internet cable to get it all hooked up and ready to go. It also is Netflix and YouTube ready. So we can always find something to watch.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Sony - Blu-ray Disc™ Player is lightweight and very compact and I can put it anywhere with it being an “eyesore”. I was extremely impressed with the crystal clear playback of both DVD's and Blu-Ray Disks. The Sony - Blu-ray Disc™ Player comes preinstalled with Netflix BUT you can only connect to it via wired network. The Sony - Blu-ray Disc™ Player S1700 does NOT support WiFi connection. You can connect a device via USB but it doesn't connect to my cell phone. My Sony - Blu-ray Disc™ Player came with the player, the power cord, and a remote with batteries. It did not come with an HDMI cable, but I used one I already owned. I really like that set up was quick and simple and subtitles a just a click of a button away. No searching through the menu during a movie for the subtitles. It's a great little Blu-Ray player and I plan to enjoy many movies on it.

I am amazed at how small and powerful this player is. It is about half the size of the last one I owned. Sony has really improved the game! The player was easy to set up and easy to use. My son loves watching the videos over and over. This was a great solution!

It has full HD picture quality that makes watching any movie or show nice and clear. It also has the ability to connect with the HDMI cable, it has the USB input and a Coaxial for output. With this player, you will want the Wired Ethernet connection and it comes with simple instructions for set up. It is very nicely made with a sleek design that does not take up much space. This Sony Blu-ray Disc/DVD player starts quickly and loads disks fast so you don't have to wait forever which is nice because my children get impatient if it takes a long time to load. The remote control has Netflix on it and you can even watch youtube just by using the remote control so we can find something for our whole family to enjoy together. I would recommend trying this Blu-Ray/DVD Player if you are looking for a new one and I think it is a quality product.

I was very pleased with the picture and audio quality, on top of that it comes with preloaded apps for streaming service. I am very happy with my new purchase and would definitely recommend.
