I think this is a fine product for the price. The setup was easy. It only comes with a component cord set, which makes little sense as it has an HDMI output. Would prefer a HDMI cord included. I have only had it a week, and I have only watched 2 movies. But, I bought 4 of these for rental cottages at a B&B, so I'll try to update this post (if allowed) after I see how well they hold up.. amazing how much abuse things get in cottages and hotel rooms!

Bought this for my Grandsons so this summer they could while resting watch cartoons, IT DOES NOT come with everything needed to hook it up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I get them settled in to rest go to hook up the player .... but NOOOOOOOOOOO .... I have to go back to town and buy a HDMI cable and come home a 40 mile round trip. So I tell the little ones I'm sorry but not today. 😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡 one very angry grandmother!!! paying over $40 for this ( because I live as you have heard other old folks say on a fixed imcome ) and just wanted to make my grandsons happy, but not today.

I purchased this DVD player online and picked it up at the store. After taking it home I easily connected the DVD player to my smart TV using an HDMI cable. While an RCA cable comes with the DVD player, I would highly recommend using an HDMI cable (sold separately) in order to obtain the highest quality picture and sound. The DVD player is about half the size of a DVD player I purchased roughly two decades ago and has a very simple button layout. The remote control is quite intuitive and comfortable after learning where a few noted buttons are. After connecting the DVD player to my smart TV with the HDMI cable and properly installing the AA batteries in the remote control, I went through the easy set-up process on the TV screen as advised by the simple to read paper instructions (included). I highly recommend this DVD player. It is easy to use and the picture and sound quality truly is fantastic with an HDMI cable. Thank you, SONY!

This DVD player is finicky and often requires reloading a disc once or twice before it will play. I ordered this one to replace an older one that did the same thing, only to find I bought the same model -- so the problem is not unique to my machine. It is a problem with the player model itself. Irritating.

I purchased these at the last minute for Christmas for my girl's television sets. My oldest one says it works beautifully. From what I noticed the one I bought for my six year old works just fine, but my husband did have to put a HDM1 cable on her tv though. My only issue was Wal-Mart. They sent them on time like they said they would, but did not bother to pack them in a different box. They were sitting on my front porch in their original packaging which clearly stated that they were DVD players. I would have put both boxes into one large plain box Wal-Mart.

This was actually the second one that I have purchased. For the money it is on point. I have one in two bedrooms now in case someone wants to pop in a DVD while hanging in bed. I have had the first one for at least 3 years now without any issues. Only thing I wish it had was a display on the front. I also have the older "Component Plug Only" twin to this HDMI version in a 3rd bedroom. The Component Plug Only has a display that greats you and lets you know at what point you are at time wise in the DVD that you are watching. This HDMI version had no display at all. Only the power button on the machine lights up when the power is on or off.

This SONY DVD player works perfectly. I have bought 3 SONY DVD players in the past few years and they still operate like they are new. I needed another player for a 4th TV so stuck with a brand I trust. The player is light weight and compact. Good buy too. I ordered on line and shipping was faster than I expected!

Purchased as a new product from my local store. Pulled the old unit.. ran all the wires and put everything back.. turned on fine.. DVD drawer refuses to open.. Kind of hard to watch DVD's if it won't open so you can put them in.. Will take it back tomorrow... The last Sony lasted 10 years of heavy use.. Not sure if their quality is bad or if I just got a bad unit.

Fast delivery. On a small unit like this one, having the buttons on top keeps you from pushing it backwards into the cabinet. The up- conversion is good. I would prefer a zoom button on the remote, it only zooms from a sub-menu, but I doubt that you could find a better player at this price.

I've had it for about 3 years, use only occasionally for exercise DVDs or DVDs of movies and such from the library. It's fine for both DVDs and CDs, though. The remote is a bit clumsy to operate and could be better designed and simplified, but I'm spoiled by Roku remotes so that's maybe not realistic. I'm actually ordering a second one for a different area. Hard to eat the quality for the money for basic operations.
