I picked up this item at the will call desk at approx 10:00 AM, took it home, opened the package, connected it to my HDTV and attemped to play a number of different DVDs, I continually got a message on the screen (This DVD Can Not Be Played Due To Area Restrictions) I then called the Sony help number, talked to a tech rep who talked me thtough a procedure to reset the player, it did not change anything, and the rep told me it was a defective unit, I returned it to Walmart within a couple of hours of when I picked it up. I have ordered other items from Walmart and have never had a problem, This Sony DVD player appears to be a bummer.

Easy set up . Use the av cable provided in box. MY other 1 didn't work. Just press AV on the Samsung tv remote control. Plus this Sony DVD player keeps the dvd in storage , %26 knows where you left off in movie. So you dont need to search for scenes.

Been looking for an inexpensive HDMI DVD player thats not refurbished for a few months and found this one. The price caught my attention (especially for the brand) so I got it for our Family room. It works great...only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because it didn't come with the HDMI cords and I had to go back out to get them when the whole family was ready to start watching the movie :-/

I figured I better gather them up before they quit making them anymore. They do that with everything you have attract tapes and then they don't have the players anymore or they have the VHS and now you don't have players anymore and it's sad. We don't prepare for the changes and then we can't view what we have anyways I'm glad to have these.

It seems like an easy to use, good quality unit. Haven't used it much yet. It's set up in my 9-year-old son's room so he can watch his movies. Only issue I have is that it has a very complicated set up menu and somehow my unit was defaulted to French as the on-screen language. It took me a while to figure out how to get it back to English. Since he will likely just put DVDs in and use the on-screen prompts, I'm not too worried. I have had good luck with other Sony DVD players, so I am hoping this one lasts as well.

Paid more to get the Sony name. Picture is mediocre even using an HDMI cable. Instruction manual pretty much useless. Menu does not do what instructions say. Very confusing. I can get it to play a DVD but I can't adjust anything. I'm pretty intelligent and used to technology - this is crazy. Can we please start making things in the USA again?!

After four attempts at finding a DVD player that would work for us, we finally found exactly what we needed with this Sony HDMI DVD Player. We needed an HDMI connection, but didn't want to pay extra for Blu Ray that we didn't need. This is the perfect DVD player for my kids... it's exactly what we needed. It was so easy to install... literally just plugged it into an electrical outlet and connected the HDMI (did not come with it). It is very easy for my 8 and 10 year olds to operate. It plays the DVDs just fine and is all we need it to be!

I love the picture quality of this DVD player. Connecting to TV was easy once I picked up a HDMI connector that was not included in the box. Very Easy after purchasing. I would recommend this product but make sure you pick up a HDMI cable while your in the store.

I AM NOT AN EXPERIENCED ELECTRONICS DUDE, I'M A USER ONLY. I COULDN'T READ THE INSTRUCTIONS IN A MONTH, A 24 X 20 SHEET CHOCK FULL OF INSTRUCTIONS THAT SO FAR HAVEN'T HELPED ME GET THE DVD TO RESPOND, EXCEPT FOR THE YELLOW LIGHT THAT COMES ON WHEN I HIT THE POWER BUTTON AND THE OPEN/CLOSE BUTTON. WHERE CAN I FIND INSTRUCTIONS THAT USE LAYMAN LANGUAGE STEP 1,2,3 ETC TO GET THIS THING WORKING?

Great little dvd player…but does not play blue-ray dvds. Easy to set up and use. Great price. Bought another one that plays both dvds and blu-ray for my other TV. It's exactly alike!
