A DVD player is typically operated from from the front but this unit has button labels which can only be viewed from the top. To operate this at eye level the buttons need temporary labels until which is which is learned. Bad ergonomics. Also, the remote is not designed for ease of one handed button pressing. Again, bad ergonomics. To its credit is the inclusion of HDMI output and it worked right out of the box; no set-up required.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It was exactly what we were looking for. We don't have many things on DVD, but we missed watching the ones that we do have. We just received some DVDs as a gift and wanted to watch them. We can watch on out computers, but wanted the television.

Nice little DVD player with HDMI that gives near High Def quality picture. Sold at a good price and fast shipping. Was easy to install, but you will need to purchase a HDMI cable. The only dislike is there is no window showing "open" "close" or time remaining. There is only a little green light on the button to show the DVD is on.

Bought less then 30 days ago. Can not turn subtitles off. Remote has a subtitlee button but it dosn't work. I have tried new releaces and older movies. This if the dvd player itself. Mot happy feel cheated. Pass on this one. Not worth it. The onn brand from wallmart was better then this.

This dvr player fills my need for an inexpensive but good quality item If you only watch a few dvr a month, this is a perfect light duty player. Installation is a plug and play snap... took me all of one minute to get it together. My only suggestion is to note in the ad that you need to have a HDMI cable, not included, to ease the installation .

I bought this unit about 9 months ago. It has degenerated steadily for the past 3 or 4 months, then failed completely. At first by freeze frame, followed by loss of sound, then stopping completely while a fragmented still picture remained. Though still under the one year parts warranty, the labor warranty expired after 90 days. I did not feel that the parts warranty was worth the cost of shipment to a repair facility plus any labor charges. Instead, I chose to replace this unit with another Sony unit a little farther upscale.

This DVD player was easy to set up. I have a Sony Bravia TV so it worked immediately with my TV. The video is crisp and clear. The sound is big bold and clear (it goes through a sound bar and woofer). As far as I am concerned there is nothing negative to be said about this DVD player.

My fav feature is the playback feature. You can take the DVD out of the unit, put it back in and the DVD will play from the last stopping point. Of course the feature is what I think causes the open/close function to work slow. You push the button and it takes a long sec for it to open. Overall: This is a great item!

The picture quality is great, hook-up is super easy. This unit has many great features. It would be nice if they were available with buttons on the remote rather than scrolling thru the menu options on the screen, that unit is why I gave a dislike for ease of use. I would recommend this player.
