I looked at this item for some time before adding to a new paver patio. Looking forward to adding furniture underneath to enjoy outdoor living. I was able to assemble by myself (except for standing posts). The four boxes were received with no damage and no issues with instructions or hardware. This pergola is very sturdy and so beautiful; love it!

Solid product! Once it is fully assembled, it is heavy. Really made our large patio usable as it gets sun all day. I went with steel so that I would not have to do staining every 2-3 years as it is exposed to wind and sun all day. Very satisfied with how the project turned out. Assembly was not difficult...just tedious as there are so many screws. I just used the printed manual. The app looked good but I was in the glaring sun and it would have been a challenge to use the phone app. Just a couple of recommendations for assembly. It took me a full day and this is not my first rodeo on assembling products. Make sure you take all of the pieces out of the boxes and get them sorted first. They will be easier to find when you need them. I would recommend assembling all of the screws and washers prior to the assembly process and just sort them in bowls. It will save time. I also diverted from the instructions and did not mount the plates to the concrete first. I assembled the entire product and then attached the pergola to the concrete pad. Just assemble at the location where you want it to be. I was a little concerned due to a very, very slight slope away from the house and so the assembly prior to securing just made it naturally fit the way it should on the ground. I only took a star off because of the seams on the beams. You have to use braces to attach the ends to make a long beam. It was expected but solid beams would have looked better, although it would have been difficult to ship.

We purchased and received the Backyard Discovery Pergola in July 2022. Pergola arrived in 4 boxes, excellent packaging and delivery. We unpacked and preassembled the Pergola to ensure all pieces were shipped prior to actual assembly. The assembly took 2 men and only 5 hours to complete! We love, love the Pergola, very beautiful addition to our back yard.

I love my pergola. It looks great. It's very sturdy, no doubt i will enjoy it for years to come! Using the tips from other reviews and having the instructions in Spanish, two people were able to complete assembly in about six hours. It looks fabulous.

I'm very happy with my pergola. It looks beautiful on my patio and is just what I hoped for. I was still setting up everything on the patio when the hurricane hit. It's very sturdy and withstood the hurricane winds without any damage. Love it and recommended it to my friends.

I purchased this about a month ago. I just love it. I have received numerous compliments from neighbors and friends. The black metal is very classy. I believe it is made well and will give me many years of satisfaction. My only wish is that you could buy shades to mount on the sides.

Purchased last summer after months of searching. This one is exactly what we wanted, beautiful finish and look, and super sturdy. I put it together myself in about 8 hours, but would have been easier with a second person. Get loads of complements from guests. Love it!

This pergola is sturdy and beautiful. My husband and a neighbor put it together in a day and it looks fantastic. The sunshade works wonderfully in this hot Alabama weather. I'm still waiting on him to instal the electrical panel, but I'm not surprised he always gets a job 99% done then gets bored and moves on! Insert eye roll here. Haha Don't hesitate it's worth the money!

Just a quick note that while searching for a 12x16 pergola, I came across the Hawthorne design and found the price very competitive. I live in West Virginia so I wanted the steel rather than a vinyl due to varying weather conditions. I had questions, and your customer service was prompt and knowledgeable. I ordered the unit and it arrived in a timely manner. It was assembled yesterday on a 12 x 20 deck extension we built for it. My neighbor, my wife and I did the assembly working in stations. All parts were perfectly marked for identification, and connectors easily identifiable. It went together perfectly. Of the significant number of connectors only 1 connection needed extra attention where the powder coating needed cleared. Where the base plate connects to the post footing. Very well, designed, manufactured, and it is incredibly sturdy. We took extra care to square it on all corners and across the diagonal. Having it square ensured the alignment for all the screws. The directions were well designed and informative with every numbered item listed to make sure the correct parts were being used. From the beginning to the end I give this item 5 out of 5 stars. This was our first pergola, so we didn't know what to expect. It went so smoothly, we've recommended your products to our friends. Thank you, and keep up the good work.
