Generator brownout killed my microwave &range hood

Do not think this is necessarily the fault of the generator, but when my home refrigerator started the generator sagged - aka brownout - and both my microwave and range hood electronics fried. The only load was the fridge with the microwave and range hood on the same circuit. Neither the microwave nor the range hood were in operation at the time but were on the same circuit. Unit is quiet, starts quickly. I have a similar one at home and have not had the same problem but the fridge is on it's own circuit there.

Hello, thank you for sharing this detailed feedback. We’re very sorry to hear about the damage to your microwave and range hood electronics—this must have been extremely frustrating. While voltage sag can sometimes occur during high starting loads like a refrigerator compressor, we appreciate you pointing this out so we can continue improving our products. Please reach out to us at 1-855-944-3571 or support@wpowereq.com so our support team can review what happened and work with you on the best next steps. Thank you, Cam - Westinghouse

So far I am largely impressed, but things to note

I bought this generator after deliberating long and hard. It was a tough purchase because it is a lot of money for something just used in the event of a hurricane. That said, so far I am pretty impressed, but there are a couple of items that should be brought up. The generator is built quite nice. It is definitely VERY heavy, but I feel like there was some thought and effort on the product. I like the covers on each side and how they latch. I really like how the oil drain was connected to a hose, as well as the carb gas drain (the gas drain was particularly nice). I really like all of the information provided on the panel, including the fuel level which is really nice. Some of the things that were disappointing considering the positives: 1. There is an oil filter on this unit. It is in the exact same place as the DFc model however there is some sort of big cylinder directly in the way in front of it. I am not sure what this is, but the DFc doesn't seem to have it from the videos I have seen, so I assume it has to do with the Natural Gas part of the unit. It is a little bit of a pain to remove as it requires a 10mm wrench and has limited movement. On such a well thought out generator, this seems to be a rushed item and makes the access to the filter a bit inconvenient. 2. This generator wasn't cheap but came with quite a bit of stuff. The one thing that it didn't come with that I was disappointed about was a cover. This was a HUGE miss. I plan on storing this in my garage and I am going to have to buy my own cover now. 3. It would be nice if the dipstick was magnetic to help keep the engine oil as clean as possible 4. The eco mode barely changes the idle speed at all (it may not even change it at all). I don't know what this switch does at this point as I expected a serious reduction in RPMs to help save gas (I was testing this with no load at all). It seems to be a very good generator. I just finished my 5 hour break-in period and changed the oil. Despite the disappointments above, I am hoping that overall it will prove itself to be a great unit.

House Backup Power

I bought this generator to power my house during frequent storm outages. It runs the well pump, water heater, and a few other plug circuits with the refrigerator etc, and of course some lighting circuits. It is quiet and efficient for the size. I'm very pleased with the purchase. It is easy to float the neutral by flowing the pdf on the website. Additionally, I purchased the inverter generator tent and it works very well.

Great unit terrible safety co sensor

This seems like a great generator but the CO sensor is extremely too sensitive. Won't stay on but I'm sure if it had a less sensitive CO sensor somehow then it would be a great unit... however, due to this issue I really wish I would have went with a different brand.

Outstanding

I purchased this some time back and just now noticed their was a CONGRATULATIONS card which qualifies me for a bonus item which is a generator cover also i did have a problem the breaker on the unit was defective and had a case number of SC289048 spoke with Ron he forwarded me out a replacement breaker which resolved the issue. I am so glad i purchased this generator and have been telling my colleagues about it and now they are going to order one it has been running like a CHAMP.. i will look to get another iGen with higher wattage when you all come out with one. Thanks a MILLION.

Technical Bulletin TB-2511 needs to be updated

I bought this larger generator to replace a 4000 watt one so I could run my heating and cooling system in the event of a prolonged power outage. So far so good. Generator arrived in perfect condition. I set it up according to the directions then started it up. If fired right up and it idled smoothly. I'll load the generator soon to test out it how it runs under load. Since I will only use it plugged into my house via a transfer switch, I followed the Westinghouse Technical Bulletin TB-2511 to float the neutral. Fairly simple, but the wiring I had (rev 1) was a bit different from the TB and steps 9, 10 and 11 could not be accomplished as the wire doesn't exist. The technical bulletin needs to be updated.

Great inverter

Purchased the igen12000ftc inverter generator. We've used it only a short time, but really like it. It came w/ all the tools, parts to get started...like the oil & all necessary tools to put the wheels and handles on. Really like the digital display of hours used, wattage, etc...it's great. It's quieter than our last inverter & lighter in weight. Very happy w/ this purchase so far.

Assembly error found during inspection/assembly

Generator appears well made. I can't speak yet about how it runs, as I have not run the unit yet. During assembly and inspection today, I did find a factory assembly error. The fuel line from the fuel tank thru the fuel filter to the front panel shutoff was routed under the pull starter rope so that the rope was in constant contact with the fuel line. Any time the rope starter was used, or the generator was running and there was vibration, the rope could abrade the rubber fuel line. I believe this would eventually cause the rubber fuel hose to fail and allow the fuel tank to drain to the inside of the Generator housing resulting in a fire. I have corrected my generator. I disconnected the fuel line and rerouted below the pull starter rope and reconnected. This results in an adequate air gap between the hose and the rope. No physical changes were made to the fuel line length, reroute only, and now there is no concern with abrasion of the fuel line. How many more generators were assembled like mine, that may eventually result in a fuel leak and a fire?

Great features!

Just purchased this 2 weeks ago and very impressed with the quality of it. Initial setup out of the box was straight forward and initial startup was easy. Especially like the electric start and the included remote. The front panel is easy to read and maneuver. Impressed with how quiet it is compared to my old generator. The ability to use various fuel sources is a great feature!!!
