Best generator I've owned

I had the Westinghouse IGen 4500 for few years. That was super quiet and very reliable. I wanted to upgrade to 240 volts so I can run my well pump during outages. I decided to purchase another Westinghouse generator seeing that I had such great luck with the I-Gen 4500. I'm so glad I did. This i-Gen 8200 tfc is perfect for running my essential itemsbin my house. It's super quiet. extremely easy to start, manually or with the pushbutton remote. I added the included oil, filled it with the correct fresh gasoline, it started immediately without issues. I'm up to my 4th hour of the break in procedure. This is one smooth running generator. So happy I decided to stay with Westinghouse again.

Portable Power

I just purchased this generator and unboxed to set it up. It couldn’t have been easier. I started it, put a small electric load on it to make sure everything was ok, and let it run for 30 minutes. It performed perfectly and is now ready for back up power when we loose electricity to our house. This generator is very quiet and I’m sure my neighbors will appreciate this when I use it.

Upgrade To iGen8200TFC Generator

After using the Westinghouse iGen5000DFc last winter during a storm related power outage, I decided to upgrade to a larger Tri-Fuel generator to provide 50amp service to the whole house using an interlock switch. My first generator ran flawlessly for two days, keeping two refrigerators, a freezer, two 500watt heaters and several lights all humming along on one 20lb LP tank. Since my new generator is tied into our main circuit box, I can now choose which circuits to keep on. No more extension cords running around he house and I can run the furnace as well. I would recommend purchasing the canopy if your generator will be out in the elements. It is a two person job to assemble, but it does the job keeping it protected.

Quiet, Clean Power

Am just breaking this in, but so far clean power, pretty smooth running. A little flickering of lights here and there in eco mode, but nowhere near as bad big old 220V generator we had. This is very close to as smooth in performance as the Honda i2000 generators if you are familiar. Running it on propane.

Let the outages begin!

Just purchased this last month to connect through our smart home panel that has a built-in transfer switch. Quiet and comes with an integrated retractable towing handle. Love the ability to run from three fuel sources. No worries about the internal battery running down, as this generator comes with a trickle charger that plugs into the front control panel.

Great product

Product is great. Just unboxed and tried starting it today, too early to tell on longevity. Good manual instructions, but a few details left in that didn't apply to this model. Quality seems good except for the plastic dipstick and transporting handle that I wish were metal.

Works on gas but not propane

Just bought it and it starts fine on gas but not propane. Propane comes out of the hose if disconnected from generator. Tried 2 different propane tanks, same result. Starts briefly with a different regulator but stops after a second. After posting this review I will be submitting a service request to see if they can help. It's a nice generator so I would recommend it (even more so after it's fixed!)

Finally a tri-fuel that doesn't weigh 250 lbs

All the tri-fuel generators previously have seemed to weigh 250+ lbs and while this isn't exactly a featherweight at 135 lbs it is a reasonable size for an 8kw 240v gen. Will be using this to backfeed my panel during future storm outages and needed tri-fuel in order to hook it up to the house's natural gas supply so I don't have to mess with gasoline or propane tanks.

IGen8200TFc Generator

Bought this to upgrade from the IGen2200 which I have had for quite a while and was very happy with, the reliability and quality. I have only had the 8200 watt generator for a couple of days but everything so far has worked as expected. There was some really minor shipping damage . One small scrap on the plastic cover and the prongs for the battery charger were bent over. Just straightened them with a pair of pliers. I expect many years from this unit just like the other one I have . Would definitely recommend purchasing this if you are in the market.. Love the fact that is Tri Fuel and I hope just to run off propane and natural gas so I do not have to drain gas out every six months if it sits idle.

So far I am largely impressed, but things to note

I bought this generator after deliberating long and hard. It was a tough purchase because it is a lot of money for something just used in the event of a hurricane. That said, so far I am pretty impressed, but there are a couple of items that should be brought up. The generator is built quite nice. It is definitely VERY heavy, but I feel like there was some thought and effort on the product. I like the covers on each side and how they latch. I really like how the oil drain was connected to a hose, as well as the carb gas drain (the gas drain was particularly nice). I really like all of the information provided on the panel, including the fuel level which is really nice. Some of the things that were disappointing considering the positives: 1. There is an oil filter on this unit. It is in the exact same place as the DFc model however there is some sort of big cylinder directly in the way in front of it. I am not sure what this is, but the DFc doesn't seem to have it from the videos I have seen, so I assume it has to do with the Natural Gas part of the unit. It is a little bit of a pain to remove as it requires a 10mm wrench and has limited movement. On such a well thought out generator, this seems to be a rushed item and makes the access to the filter a bit inconvenient. 2. This generator wasn't cheap but came with quite a bit of stuff. The one thing that it didn't come with that I was disappointed about was a cover. This was a HUGE miss. I plan on storing this in my garage and I am going to have to buy my own cover now. 3. It would be nice if the dipstick was magnetic to help keep the engine oil as clean as possible 4. The eco mode barely changes the idle speed at all (it may not even change it at all). I don't know what this switch does at this point as I expected a serious reduction in RPMs to help save gas (I was testing this with no load at all). It seems to be a very good generator. I just finished my 5 hour break-in period and changed the oil. Despite the disappointments above, I am hoping that overall it will prove itself to be a great unit.
