I love this for what it is. Great nugget ice which we love, quick production of ice too. But it makes really weird grinding noises at times when filling. It didn't do that until we added the recommended filter. Also it makes a whirring sound that is a bit noisy when making ice.

Hi - I just this morning unboxed, cleaned and set up my new Opal 2.0 ice maker. It was easy and directions were clear. It took a bit of timer to first clean with a bleach solution and follow that up with rinsing flushes (3) to clear bleach. Started making my first batch of ice. Comes out runny wat first but within 30 minutes everything is working. Ice tastes (and chews) great. I bough the model with the side tank and glad I did as nearly the whole tank emptied in first round. I will want to keep that full so I keep making ice. I know it says not to put finished ice in freezer, but I’m going to try it anyway and see how it does. We use a lot of ice and always want to have enough on hand. We have a reverse osmosis system so expecting excellent store-bought quality or better. I’ll repost after a few weeks and let you know how it’s going.

The nugget ice maker is worth the hype. Definitely get it with the water attachment on the side which helps with the continuous refilling. My one negative is the noise when it’s flushing through water to create the ice. Aside from that, it does make ice quickly and it’s the perfect addition for any cocktails or iced coffees.

My brother bought one last year and it is great. Works well. I bought one on his recommendation and it is the “new and improved “ model. But, it is not as good. I had to return the first 2. This is my third try. The main problem is the defrosting. It defrosts when it does not need to do so. I turned it off last night. Sat for 10 hours. I turned it on this morning and it started making ice. After it’s first dump, it started defrosting. It has been on 4 hours now and the bin is not half full and it has defrosted at least twice. Do not buy. I am going to give this unit a few more days then return. The ice is great! Taste great and is soft and easy to chew. I love the ice - hate the units inability to function. GE should “recall” them and fix the defrosting problem. Also, on defrost, the unit sometimes squeaks really loud. Like a baby crying. That loud!!

Love my Opal. Setup was easy and fairly quick. It makes ice quickly and the hopper will keep ice frozen for a long time. Connecting to wifi and making a schedule is the best part. I set a schedule to have ice ready for dinner time. My only small quibble would be the noise the machine makes when running a little louder than I was expecting but it still is not objectionable.

This was given to me as a Christmas present. While I always thought it would be nice to have a pellet ice maker, I never thought I really needed one…until now!!! The set up is super simple, and the ice is amazing. I repair appliances for a living, and a have to say that i have always hated servicing undercounter icemaker. They are a pain to maintain, and customers rarely take care of them. The Opal 2.0 is easy to maintain, and it makes ice so quickly. Love it!!!

To start this nugget ice machine was so easy to put together and get started. It made ice so fast, I was super impressed by that! I also love how easy it is to clean. This nugget ice machine is definitely worth every penny and I’m so happy I purchased this. I would definitely recommend this to ice lovers.

We love it when it is working and not screaming like a banshee. We had it for about 4 months before it started making noise and we would have to unplug it to get it to stop. It now happens 2 times or more a day. Working with the warranty company now. I will update with the results if possible. The side tank is a must, I can’t imagine filling without it.

I was going to chick fil a for the ice every day (I would also get a root beer and food since I was there) that adds up. I have been wanting this machine for months but was saving up the money for it. Someone on Facebook said they used their credit card rewards and I immediately cashed mine in and got it. Best purchase. I love it.

The product makes great ice very quickly and the ice bin holds it frozen. The WiFi feature allows for easy status monitoring. The one downside is that the ice maker is a bit noisy throughout all of its cycles. Since we have set this up in the basement, the noise isn't an issue for us. It is not ideal as a kitchen countertop appliance.
