I’ve read other people’s complaints about it being loud and it almost deterred me but I purchased this anyways and I’m glad I did! Also it’s not THAT loud. I highly recommend purchasing the variant I did that has the side tank to put water in so you’re not having to pull the tray out so much to pour water in it. So much more convenient to pull the side tank off and unscrew that cap and then fill that. The ice tastes great. I drink iced coffee multiple times daily and love it! (My dogs do too!) :)

I’m so excited to have the Opal 2.0 ice maker in my home! After visiting a friend for a week I was addicted lol. Set up instructions were easy, and already making ice! Didn’t even have to call my husband to help! Now to get a glass and a cocktail with some yummy ice!

I’m glad you asked. It was a replacement for the original ice machine purchase. The original machine wasn’t making ice correctly and we had a lot of problems with it. When it worked correctly, we loved it. So we contacted GE, after quite a back and forth for weeks, it was replaced. The new one, unfortunately has a different problem. When you shut it, the ice maker doesn’t always engage. You sometimes have to slam it several times to get it to work. I would like a replacement again. Please contact me asap about it.

This ice maker is worth the money! It’s quiet and I can have it running all day without noise or it getting hot. The ice is to die for, but make sure you are using filtered water and not tap. Easy to set up, highly recommend running a couple extra cycles than what is recommended after the bleach. 10/10 it is a must buy!

Purchased the GE Opal Ice Maker 2.0 in December of 2022 (three months in as of this writing) and had problems from the first week. I was only using tap water, and so the scaling would cause the loudest squealing (neighbors could hear it) when defrosting (1-2 times daily). I purchased the GE water filtration system, but the design wouldn’t allow enough water to get through causing a “Add Water” error. I was doing a clean cycle once a week and the maintenance was driving me crazy, to the point I almost took it back. Finally did a deep descaling with vinegar and started purchasing Distilled Water, and now it runs beautifully. So overall, a great working unit, but be prepared to have to purchase Distilled (not filtered) water to get the best no-hassle performance (1-2 gallons per week for a two person household).

I am so glad we bought it! the price is a bit steep, but the pellet ice is the best. So far the machine is working great. It does make noise when making ice, but otherwise quiet. The cleaning is easy and keeps the ice tasting great. Hoping this last many, many years.

So far I love it it does take a while for the bin to fill up with ice. I have tried different types of water and some water makes the ice hard so now I am just using drinking water. I am trying to build a stock pile of ice because I eat about 8 24oz cups a day. it’s very quiet unlike the reviews I read. Hope it last a long time to recoup the money I paid. The only complaint is they don’t include a water filter which is a stupid thing.

We absolutely love our GE Nugget Ice maker. For a family of 5, 3 being teens and all their friends that flow in and out of our home, it keeps up like a champ! Quickly makes ice & keeps us stocked with a busy home. Super easy to clean, fill water in both the extra side tank and in the actual maker under the ice bin. We love our ice maker and won’t go back to using anything but! You won’t be sorry for your investment.

The three different ice size selection blows my mind. The melting ice returns to the side tank to remake ice is just genius.

Great little ice maker. Makes nice small crunchy ice and the light inside makes for a cool glow at night. Love that it keeps the ice after making it and recycles any lost water due to melting. Had a slightly difficult time setting up the connection to WiFi, but the help line was very easy to talk to and responsive.
