The seed meats are fresh. No moth larvae, which are often unavoidable in bird seed. I have several species of birds in my yard and they all eat these seeds. I spread some on the patio for ground feeders since sunflower meats will not germinate if blown into the grass. I also use this food in hanging feeders and platform feeders, and the woodpeckers even stop by and peck at them from time to time. The price can't be beat for the quality.

These are just perfect. I can throw out a handful on my brick patio and they are soon gobbled up by birds and squirrels alike. I don't have to worry about any hang up feeder being torn down by a raccoon or squirrel (I've had many of those believe me). Best of all I don't have any messy black oil sunflower seeds shells to contend with. Walmart is the best so say the little birdies!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The seeds I normally get are almost 100% large, whole sunflower hearts. The seeds from Audobon Park contain 20-30% small chips (I believe they were advertised as containing chips so I don't hold Walmart responsible). It simply is more attractive to different types of birds than what I usually see and may create more competition for my preferred birds. But the birds will adjust and for the price, I can feed twice as much so everyone stays happy!

Best price per pound I have found. Ordered extra and will be ordering more. Quality sunflower hearts, no trash or debris. No small pieces. Attracts many different kinds of birds, including blue birds and towhees. Squirrels love them too so I put a squirrel proof baffle on my bird feeder pole and anti-crow mesh over the top of the platform feeder. No waste and no hulls to clean up.

I have three bird feeders and I was tired of constantly dumping out the sunflower shells. I didn’t realize that these would attract about 200% more birds! It is now like an arboretum at my house! I mix this seed with red pepper flakes and it keeps the mammals away, too!

Completely unsatisfied with Audubon sunflower hearts because the package only contained appx 25% sunflower hearts, the majority of the contents were sunflower chips. For some reason our birds (Cardinals, titmice, chickadees %26 woodpeckers do not like the chips as much as the hearts. False advertising in my opinion, I do not intend on using that brand again.

I love this product. It is not so heavy that i cannot lift the bag. It is larger sunflower seeds which is ideal over tiny pieces that can fly away. Sunflower seeds are one of the best bird seeds because it does not germinate and cause grass to grow under the feeder. I will order this again.

At about $2/pound, sunflower hearts are a bit more expensive than other birdseeds. But there’s absolutely no waste and the birds “fight” to get a spot on the feeder. Haven’t found a bird that doesn’t like them. I’ve actually had to get feeders that keep some of the larger birds off, so that the smaller birds have a chance. If you enjoy watching birds feed, you’ll love the sunflower hearts.

I am furious the entire top was all mold and wet. I didn't notice due to that I opened it upside down bc I was in hurry to get the food out to the birds. But when I got to the bottom it was wet and mold ( black and fuzzy ) never will buy this brand again

I have bought this product with great success for a few years but this most recent batch contained a significant amount of millet and black sunflower seeds in the shell. These will sprout and make a mess underneath the feeder, not to mention I am paying for shelled sunflower seeds and not millet. Very disappointed, and not an easy item to pack up and return to the store. Very disappointed in the quality control of this batch.
