The Best!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love this machine. It is easy and makes preparing rice, grains, and beans a breeze. Especially wild rice that takes an hour to cook. Keeps it warm until you need it. I for one am very happy with this purchase and don't know how anyone can not have one. Like the Kitchen Aid mixer...both a must for any kitchen!

AMAZING

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Wow! I honestly didn’t think anything like this existed! I am very impressed by how well this rice cooker works. I don’t even have to think whenever I make rice or quinoa. I just put in however many cups and the machine does the rest!

Throw your pots away this is a game changer

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is by far the fanciest rice cooker I have ever used. I never knew a rice cooker could be elevated to such a level of perfection. I was very intimidated at first since it’s not your everyday rice cooker. Now as for the rice amazing results in a short period of time compared to traditional rice cooker or cooking in a pot. I have not tried cooking grains but I am so excited with cooking meals with this. I can truly set it and forget it. Kinda lol. Overall every time I cook rice it always comes out perfect. I will be experimenting with this every time how cook and see how far I can take my recipes with this new tool.

No other way to cook rice than in the Kitchen Aid

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This rice cooker was one of the easiest kitchen gadgets I have ever used. It sits level on my counter and while it may be kind of bulky it would be easy to store under the cabinet or in a pantry. All I had to do was fill up the water basin, turn on the machine chose my setting for rice, quinoa, long grain, wheat, oats, and then it has a digital scale on it that measures out the perfect amount while you pour. Close the lid and the machine does the rest! Making rice is so much more fun and effective now! The machine never got hot on the outside and there is a timer that counts down till your product is done, and then has a warming timer as well. Clean up was super easy as well, and my rice did not stick to my pan either which gives it a thumbs up in my book!

It can cook potatoes!

We got this for our anniversary and so far I absolutely love it! I used to make fun of people using rice cookers, because rice is easy to cook, you just need a pot of boiling water. Until I got one - then I used and abused that poor thing - it's just so much easier and it saves that big pot for the other stuff you might need to cook - like gumbo! Then I caught wind of this Grain and Rice Cooker from my husband who works in R&D at Whirlpool and we were both intrigued, we bought one when it was finally released. Boy am I glad we did. I have used it for more than cooking rice and grains, I've used the steamer basket to cook eggs (hard or soft boiled), Potatoes (small or cubed) and the rice/grain cooker to make basmati rice, couscous and lentils. I'm using the fast soak option right now for a bag of great northern beans. I know it's silly but being able to just plop some eggs in the basket and then leave it for 11 minutes is awesome and now I get why people used to have counter top egg cookers. It is a little pricey, but you know, being able to just dump your stuff in and have it weigh it and then dispense the right amount of water is amazing to be honest, and to cook potatoes without having them get waterlogged or need to watch them is great too - just dice them up and put them in the steamer basket or use small potatoes and put them in whole. I used fingerling potatoes and left them whole it took 10 minutes and they were perfect, I smashed them flat and put them in the oven for 'smashed potatoes'. The manual has the recommended steam times for everything from broccoli to whitefish - which I haven't tried yet, but suspect I will soon enough. The only issue I had was with the lentils, and I think they were kind of old since they just disintegrated. I'm going to reserve my judgment on how it cooks lentils after I try a fresh bag of brown lentils (these were old green ones). So far I have not had to tweak any settings, but I might have to do it for lentils at least if I want them to hold their shape.

Mixed results…

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have used the machine once to prepare oatmeal via a timer. When it was ready, I noticed that there was liquid all around the base. The oatmeal had steamed and overflowed through the vent. I only had a cup of grains in there. Maybe I didn’t have the parts in the lid on correctly after washing it. I will try again. I’m hopeful this will be a great machine for me to use on a variety of foods.

This is a bummer

I was really excited about this product, but unfortunately, it does not perform as advertised. I have not had rice or beans turn out correctly. The rice is mushy. I have tried several different kinds of rice and beans and have gotten the same results. Super bummed !!!

Love this thing!

I’ve had this cooker for a few months now. I LOVE this thing! I’ve tried so many methods to have steel cut oatmeal ready first thing in the morning and nothing worked really well until this. I set it the night before and my oatmeal is ready when I get up. Then I re-set it to have rice for dinner. Honestly one of my best purchases.

Best appliance not worth putting away!

Absolutely the best counter top appliance since the coffee pot and mixer. I use it at least twice a week. I would use it more if my family was still at home. Brown Rice cooks perfectly! Now trying it with Quiona. I have cooked Oatmeal, wild rice, and I can use the steamer function. I love it! Now if they would make a pasta cooker, live would be perfect!

Great!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Works great! I just add water and rice and let it cook on its own. Perfect proportions of water as well. It’s pretty strong and big but it works great. You can also set a time when you want it to start cooking so it works as a slow cooker as well. I didn’t get to try lentils yet but rice works great!
