The built in scale and automatic water dispensing make it super quick and easy to get the rice cooking and takes away the hassle that cooking rice once was.

Takes a long time to cook and came out dry even with adjusting the settings. I do like that the bowl is dishwasher safe which makes cleaning a breeze.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It took me 2-3 tries to get the perfectly cooked rice since the instructions written fetched me the wrong results everytime. I cooked rice and after 3rd attempt it came perfect. I made basmati rice and now I can confidently make it without ruining the rice. To cook perfect rice, you need to rinse it and soak it for 10 15min before putting in the pot to cook it. If you don't have the time up soak it just add a little extra water in the pot before or after it dispense the water to cook the rice.

It makes cooking different grains very easy and convenient as it measures how much water you need by itself. It’s also easy to clean and can keep the cooked grain warm for many hours. Overall, I recommend this grain and rice cooker for easy cooking.

I tried to cook pre-soaked beans and it kept telling me I had too many beans in the pot; it was about half full, so I didn't like that and ended up cooking them in another pot. I haven't tried the other grains yet.

There is a scale under the pot to weigh the rice/grains/beans, so once the rice has been washed add it to the pot. The water should be filled so the machine can dispense water. You can choose how you like your rice cooked and you can steam your food! Honestly, I'm really impressed by kitchenaid, I've only used asian brand rice cookers and this can compete. My only issue is that I can't wash my rice jn the pot since it must have nothing in it for the machine to weigh the grain. Also I cant really Sautee in it. But overall I quite enjoy it.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Let’s start with the good! I’ve never owned a rice cooker, so please take that into consideration. I’ve owned this now for a little over a month and I’ve become accustomed to all its little quirks and features. The fact that this machine weighs out your food, distributes the amount of water you need, and even pre-cleans itself…is just SO convenient and innovative. It tells you the exact amount of time everything will take to cook. It has a steaming basket that you can cook veggies in (at the same time as your grains too). There are many, many options that cover most popular grains, beans, rice etc. You can also cook with different liquids, but I haven’t tried this yet. I use it most often to make rice, oatmeal, and quinoa. It cooked my regular rolled oats and steel cut oats almost perfectly. The rice, not quite how I’d like. So now let’s get into its quirks/downsides. It’s bulky. Like take up an entire area of your counter bulky. You can’t have under a certain amount of food in it. So if you’re trying to make single-serve portions of something, this isn’t the gadget for you. Secondly, I haven’t quite figured out how to get it to cook basmati rice without it being on the dry side. Hopefully there’s some firmware update for that. The machine also says that if you put your food in first you can level out the scale by lifting it for three seconds. This doesn’t work. It glitches out and won’t weigh your food at that point. So just wait for it to tell you when to put in the food. Lastly, there aren’t really any instructions for how to steam things. It’s kind of like a guessing game 😅 All in all, I still really like this and I envision myself using it for a while! My biggest complaint is how much counter space it takes up lol

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Mixed feelings about this device. Pro: It's very convenient for some uses, and a lot of thought has gone into creating it. Con: It doesn't handle grains very well, leaving a large mess even when cooking a minimal amount. Documentation is lacking. Convenience: I bought this because I did not want to be wedded to the stove when making rice, and the other features sounded appealing. I have a dog whose health is improved when I add rice (and pumpkin) to his diet. This means cooking rice every other day. I could have purchased a rice cooker, but the grain cooking aspect was attractive. This grain cooker is very helpful in that respect; I can set it and walk away while it cooks from start to finish. It's cooked both short grain and basmati with precision. Inconvenience: Unfortunately, the cooker boils over frequently when I cook oats -- cooked grain "mush" flows out the vents and all over the inside when cooking steel-cut oats, even less than one cup's worth -- the attached image shows a portion of the mess after I removed the cover plate to clean it. I'd like to open the "steam collector" when it fills with food, but I find that impossible, with no guide as to how to do it. Because I have the cooker, I've steamed broccoli for dinner, and it did that well. (Basically, it steams and you decide how long.) I have not tried cooking beans. I am concerned that this will boil over as well, but I should test it. I like the convenience, but I can only cook small amounts -- the minimum the device allows -- without a huge mess.
