I love this ice maker. It keeps us in ice constantly. It is easy to refill with water when needed, and easy to empty the ice out. It is pretty quiet and it has a solid feel to it. The plastic water container and the ice container are made out of sturdy material.

My husband and I purchased this ice maker after using a family member's first generation machine several times during the holidays, family visits, etc. We like the water reservoir being on the side of this model and the more modernized appearance. As some other users have said, the cleaning process is a tad cumbersome, but not a deal breaker. The machine does make noise as others have disclosed. It is not obtrusive, but for on occasion as water flows through the drain tubes and again not a deal breaker. So far, we are very pleased with the purchase! It has been a hit!

I actually purchased two of these ice makers. My wife and daughter really love the soft ice produced by this machine so we had to have one. I mean two. The machines do make a little bit of noise but nothing that is intolerable. We had one of the cheap ice makers before this one and this one blows the other one out of the water. Trust me you will like it.

I’m really enjoying my new ice maker. It makes ice fairly quickly and remains frozen for a good amount of time. its compact shape fits perfectly next to my fridge. The noise is minimal which is great for my dogs. My previous ice maker was too loud and would drive my animals crazy. Thanks GE for a great ice maker

Love the ice it makes however, the amount of consistent taking apart, cleaning for almost 2 days & the noise it makes, it’s a question on whether I’d pay this much again. The capacity is good, the installation is medium in effort & the size is about right for what it’s production of ice.

I have two of these one in my home in Florida and one at my home in Utah. I will say the one in Utah works better because I use reverse osmosis water in it. My Florida home has water delivery so I use bottled water but it is not a clean as the RO water. I get more scale and have to clean and descale more often on the unit in Florida. Overall I love these ice makers and will always have one no matter where I live.

We are a family of 4, and this holds up well to our constant use. We empty it multiply times a day. It's run pretty much nonstop since March. I DO clean it regularly. I learned with my previous ice machine, that keeping it clean is the key to longevity. AND it matches my GE Profile kitchen appliances!

I owned one of the very first original Opal made by FirstBuild. It finally gave out after 5 years of daily use. When I bought this model I expected a slight upgrade over the original but I was pleasantly surprised to find it is much better! The extra side tank is an excellent addition and reduces the need for daily filling. The app gives much better information and control over the operation of the ice maker.

Bought this for my wife for Christmas. Installed it dec28th, 2020. Fast forward 3 weeks and now everyday it has a horrid loud whining/squeaky sound that last for 15-30 minutes. Quits for a couple of hours then starts back at it again. I have tried to call the numbers given for tech support and had to wait on forever hold twice. Then the last time I called I got hung up on. Hopefully someone reads this and actually pays attention. I will be calling until I get this product fixed/returned or replaced.

I was very happy with this ice maker for literally 10 months. It started making weird niches then and about a month later made the worst sound so we had to stop using it. For this price, and the company name, I thought it would last a few years at least. I’m so disappointed!
