I have had this ice maker for a little time now and have had issues with it leaking all over my counter since I pulled it from the box. I constantly have to keep something under it to soak up all of the water. It's not just a little water, no, it's a lake under my machine. I have read where people are told to check the hoses. Don't you think that was the first thing I checked? I wouldn't tell any of my friends or family to purchase this ice machine. I would tell them to save some money and buy a cheaper one since this one leaks anyway.

I am so happy I got this. Now I don't have to go to my daughters house and steal ice from her !! Her husband bought her one for Christmas !! We got addicted to this kind of ice when she was in the hospital having my grandbaby twins ! Thanks so much for making such a great product we can have at home to enjoy !!

This is my third opal ice maker. I love these things! They typically have a set lifespan around 2-4 years in my experience. Regardless, these machines make the best ice! Recommend using distilled water to increase its life expectancy and to ensure cleaning of the machine is completed regularly. Makes enough ice for a family of 8. Easy set up and install. Fits perfectly under our kitchen cabinets. Runs quietly.

This product is worth every penny! My wife and children love to eat ice and our ice maker in our fridge just couldn’t keep up. I was constantly going to Sonic to get them ice. Now they just walk over to the counter and scoop out as much as they want!! They are completely hooked. The ice never sticks together, never runs low and constantly recycles itself! It really is a great product! Do yourself a favor and BUY one! You won’t regret it!!

I bought this for my daughter who loves chewy ice! I saved for a couple of years to be able to afford it so I did my research! This was her Christmas present and it has made the entire family so happy! This machine is hard working and keeps the ice coming if it senses it’s getting low. The app capability to mange it is icing on the cake with my daughter she checks on it when she’s at school (LOL) via her phone! Don’t hesitate to purchase it’s an amazing little machine and now we have our own chewy ice no more trips to the gas station to get the bag of chewy ice! We love our opal! My daughter plans to take it with her to college next year!

I've had the opal 2 for about a month and I can say that I love the quality of the ice it makes. It's quiet and has a sleek look that fits great with my kitchen. Some cons would be the price and the cleaning procedures but if you have the time and money this shouldn't be a problem!

Should have purchased long ago! Have even driving to Sonic weekly to pick up nugget ice and got tired of it so ... after seeing that GE owned this product now, decided to purchase. (Hadn’t before due to customer service issues with the original company.) This produce makes better ice thanSonic and I no longer have to worry about running out. Also, the app is helpful as it allows one to set a schedule to have fresh new ice ready. 5 stars (so far!)

ADDED one month after use: Icemaker is now making a random squealing noise when producing ice. Not a fan. I recently ordered this to upgrade my other countertop nugget maker. I'm absolutely addicted to nugget ice. PROS: Large Reservoir Easy to fill Light Wi-Fi connection Easy to get ice Keeps Ice Frozen for a long time, insulated CONS: Heavy (almost 40lbs) Large (very big footprint) Small ice Reservoir Louder than I was expecting You MUST use the drip tray Overall I really like the convenience of this ice maker coupled with the quality of the brand name itself. It wasn't hard to hook up. However, it is much louder than my previous model you can definitely hear it when it is running. When the Ice Reservoir is pulled forward any water that is underneath the ice container will drip onto the ice tray. Be aware that it must be installed or you could potentially mess your countertop up.

I was abit skeptical about the expected volume it should make since we had to replace the first one we ordered earlier in the month, but the replacement works great. It took 3 hours to fill the bin the first time, and runs only short periods of time to maintain based on usage there after

I love the GE Profile Opal Ice machine so far, we are using it in an office and it has produced plenty of ice for our needs. I will say that it is very important to use filtered water. The first few days I used non-filtered and you could see a difference and the machine was louder and did not run as efficiently.
