Bought for my wife for Christmas and it started going into defrost mode constantly so I called for Tech Support on this site and they want me to produce a receipt even though it was purchased here. After 5 days they deleted my ticket and now I am on perpetual hold.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Not only does this appliance look great, it works great as well. This makes the perfect ice to satisfy all your drinking needs. It's easy to use and install. Comes with an excellent user guide, which provides good clear instructions for everything. It's quite attractive with the clear plastic and brushed stainless steel, it fits right in with all my other appliances. It's much quieter than expected with just barely an audible hum during operation. This is a rather large (and heavy) ice maker but it fit perfectly fine underneath my cabinets. This unit is not refrigerated, so as ice collects into the bin it will slowly melt, however the water gets recycled back into the machine and will be reused to make more ice. My only complaint is how long it takes to complete an ice making cycle, it takes literally hours for it to fill the bin with ice. Not a big issue but you definitely need to plan ahead if you're going to need ice, however if you dump the ice into a bag occasionally and freeze it you'll always have ice on-hand.

I am more than pleased with this product. Was concerned about the price and the reviews that said they had issues. I carefully followed all the instructions for cleaning it before use and have had none of the problems other people reported. I am amazed at how much easier it is for my husband and I to get our daily water in. It is like it begs you to drink more. Other people have complained about the noise, but it doesn’t make anymore noise than a refrigerator and if you happen to notice it making more ice then it is just an encouragement to top off your glass. You can never have too. Ice water or ice when you live in the desert.

So far it has been flawless. There is a bit more maintenance such as cleaning once a week. It’s not hard at all once you get it down. Takes about 20 min to complete. Produces perfect ice and fairly quick. I would buy another in heartbeat. It is a bit pricy but if it last a long time like the other profile series I’ve had I’m good.

This is a great ice maker. I tried its competitors, but this ice maker is by far the best one. It feels much better built than others and is a solid choice. Only thing I don’t like is the color. When I got this one I didn’t know it came in other colors.

The icemaker was easy to set up. It keeps ice cold, which was the key issue we had with a competing brand. The ice tastes great. I use bottled water to not have to deal with cleaning as often. I have not cleaned the unit yet. So I have not comments on that process. It has acted like it was in the cleaning process and it stayed stuck in that. I had to unplug the unit to get it out of this setting. So I have a small level of concern about the unite. This is the only reason I have given it a good rating. Otherwise, it would be excellent. We are very happy with the product at the moment.

We absolutely LOVE our ice machine. It was not working for a bit and we PANICKED! No worries we figured out that the side tank was not level and all is well now (Whew). The only reason it does not get 5 STAR is due to the I swine price and the fact that it does make noises that irritate me especially after cleaning cycles. I have owned one other brand and this one is by far the BEST CHOICE! Especially with our Texas heat.

We originally participated in the kickstarter for Opal. We loved our original Opal. It did have some issues and finally died 2 years ago. We said we would not buy another one because of the price. For 2 long years, we had bagged ice from every store and restaurant in town. We had ice from the fridge door, ice from trays, and nothing compares to an Opal. The Opal 2.0 by GE is WORTH EVERY PENNY! They have taken all the issues we had with the original Opal and made them disappear! The noise, the size, the weight, the lack of extra dispenser. I mean EVERYTHING! This is an ice lover's dream come true!

This is our second Opal - we initially had the model from first build. That one had a lot of issues, it was very loud, leaked out the front, and had a big issue with mineral deposits in the tubing which were difficult to clean out. The side tank made the leaking worse and we couldnt use it. This model seems to have fixed the leaking issue and is nicer looking. It’s still pretty loud, but not as loud as the old one. I recommend running the cleaning cycle quarterly to avoid the issue with mineral buildup. The ice cannot be beat - so satisfying for anyone who loves chewing on ice, and a lot more affordable than an under-counter ice maker (although price point is still a little high)

We absolutely love our new GE Profile Opal Nugget Ice Maker! Best kitchen purchase we have made in a very long time. We have a fridge that makes crushed or cubed ice, but the nugget ice maker is the bomb! Couldn’t be more pleased with this product. It’s side water feature is a must!
