The machine makes wonderful chewable ice and makes ice efficiently. The app interface does not work very cleanly and takes a while to make work. Lots of sitting time hoping the connection works successfully. Finally successful. This machine makes great ice.

We recently bought the Opal 2.0 nugget ice machine and it has been great. We were quite surprised to see ice being made just 10 minutes after the last clean cycle. I had a concern about the noise but although it does produce sound; it is only discernable in the early morning hours before my kids wake up. We don't notice the machine running during the day. I love the fact that it stops making ice once the bin is full and also that you can set a schedule to make ice. We wake up to a full bin of ice and come home from work and school to an ice full. The 3lb capacity has been plenty although we did save a couple of gallon-sized bags in the freezer if we ever needed any more. We have found that the machine takes a little more than 3 hours to fill up.

The freeze comes to mind you get what you pay for… The instructions for a little foggy to set it up, but you just follow the diagrams and you’re good. But I love having this on my counter because now I personally drink a lot more water like I should. There’s nothing like it went up my travel cup with ice water and it blasting me all day and then I get home and I fill it up again. Well worth the money!

Best ice ever! Bought and returned a different ice maker. Thought it was awesome and cheaper. Then we bought this one, which we wanted in the 1st place but didn't want to pay the price. But... this far exceeds the precious maker. Tastes great, makes a lot of ice very fast and is SO quiet. Ice chewers will love this machine. We in Texas love it as we need ice all the time!!! Neighbor and fellow ice chewer waited for our recommendation and now he has one too!

It's not as big as I thought it would be, which is a good thing. I would recommend this ice maker for anyone that is picky about their ice!

quieter than expected, faster ice production than expected. ice lasts in bin for hours without compressor on making more. love the WiFi feature more than I expected as well, as it can be on a daily or weekly schedule without my attention. the side tank is important for convenience as well. would purchase again. take care and do the recommended cleaning and descaling regularly.

This my second Opal. The first one worked reliably every day for about 4 1/2 years. Then the ice bin indicator started indicating full bin right after it was turned on and refused to produce any ice. I went back and forth with tech support and tried every possible way to clean the machine and the sensors but to no avail. I'm sure if the ice bin sensors could be cleaned it would continue to produce ice. But rather than waste any more time on it, I went ahead and got a new ice maker. So amortize the cost of the machine over daily usage for 4 1/2 years. Not sure what the per day operating cost is after figuring in water and electricity. But it was worth it. LOVE. THIS. ICE!!!

This ice maker is the best! We had a smaller counter ice maker before this one. It was so small and only held about one large ice tea cup worth of ice. This ice maker is amazing. I love love love the crunchy ice and it makes enough ice for several large ice teas (a must in my family)

I would expect more from GE! I am on my second one in less than two weeks. The first one (out of the box) roared so loud you could hear in another room. The second one makes a loud speaking noise every time it starts to make a new batch of ice. I am contemplating how long to keep this one.

If you’re looking for sonic or Frisch’s Ice at home here you go. Ice is great. Huge hit at my house. Cons are smaller issues or things I can see past but prefer without. You literally can hear every ice cube hit the bucket when it fills. The machine is humongous so it’s hard to place in your house. It drops a lot so the drip pan is usually wet. It takes a lot of water (or we eat a lot of ice ha). It was more pricey than other ice machines. For it being small ice the ice doesn’t melt as fast as other machines but it still melts too fast to my liking (dilutes my pop to watery). But I mostly use in water.
