So far I love this nugget machine 1. Another brand failed in less than 2 weeks 2. Next brand-nuggets we’re square and tray fell out 3. Friend had this one and loved it, so we bought it. This is our second Opal. The 1.0 lasted a few years but w/o proper care it unfortunately stopped working. We will see how long the 2.0 lasts with proper cleaning monthly. I tried other brands but ultimately had to go back to the Opal as it's by far the best crunchy ice maker you can buy hands down. No comparison!

My wife has always loved the "best ice" in her drinks. She will drive way out of her way to get some from Sonic or at a gas station that has the "best ice!" Surprising my wife with this Ice Maker for our 36th Anniversary was a HUGE win. In fact, I get "points" each time she uses it!

OMG this ice maker is AMAZING!!! I chose to purchase a similar ice machine and it was a disaster after 2 replacements I finally decided to buy the last machine with the product name GE OPAL and I am beyond impressed with the ease of setting it up and I can even control it over the internet. Never disappointed and couldn't wait for the ice to have my favorite cocktail I'm one happy consumer.

The initial cleaning and installation process was straightforward and easy. My unit has the optional water tank and that connected very simply it is very clean and sleek looking appliance and 20 minutes after installation I already have ice to enjoy.

My husband is a devoted ice-chewer, and we agreed to always buy a cheap version of an item before getting the creme de la creme so to speak. After our cheap ice maker broke we bit the bullet and purchased this item. Although it takes up far more counter space in an apartment than I'd like, it truly has become a staple in our home and it has actually encouraged us both to stay more hydrated throughout the day. I like that it doesn't have to be running all day everyday and I think the app is user friendly. The lighting is aesthetically pleasing and the machine is relatively quiet.

Love the ice, but the noise is terrible! I’m literally in the process of vinegar soaking my opal. It literally sounds like a cat-fight during the defrost cycle. Hopefully a cleaning will fix the noise because if it doesn’t, this will go down as being one of the worst appliance purchases ever!

We experienced difficulties with two competitor machines, (smaller in size.) We discovered this item from GE and appreciated the additional year of service at no added charge. We had to step up to make the purchase, but once it arrived and got going; we’ve never looked back. It works very well, produces good ice, and we’ve had no issues whatsoever. Visitors seem to enjoy its presence and ultimately find their own excuse to use it themselves. No regrets and glad we decided to spend the extra money to avoid the bi-annual replacement of less expensive competitor products that hardly process 1/4 of the ice this machine does…

It's great at making ice. However, for such a high price tag, it should also refrigerate the ice. It's inconvenient to have to move the ice to the freezer as it starts to melt. For this reason, I returned mine. Hopefully, the next version can refrigerate the ice, I could but it again.

We had a icemaker on our Samsung refrigerator that was no good at all but when we purchased dish GE icemaker I have recommended it to a lot of different people that have had the same trouble with their crazy icemakers on their Samsung refrigerators highly recommend it
