This ice make makes great ice when it wants to. I has to be monitored constantly. If it isn’t the bin building a nice mountain in it and triggering that it is full it’s the add water notice when the side container is still full. Overall if you are looking for good nugget ice this machine will do the job.

I live for this ice. It is the only ice we use. It makes eveything colder and stays longer. Our fridge ice always tasted like whatever was in the fridge ( cilantro, pineapple or celery). This is fresh, soft chewable ice. We only used bottled water for it and have a filter on it. Tate great! It has been worth every penny so far!

I love the ice this machine makes as I am constantly chewing on the ice. This is the 3rd machine I’ve bought in the last 4 years. I clean it on a regular basis and maintain it as instructed. These machines are expensive and should last longer than they do. I also like the larger tank compared with the smaller one it now comes with. Lucky for me I still have my larger tank.

Installation was simple. Capacity of the ice bin is good and having the side tank is a lifesaver, I’m glad that I opted for that as well. The noise level is medium, I wish it was quieter, but it’s tolerable for the benefit of having nugget ice. The cleaning requirements is a bit cumbersome, at least the descaling process. It requires a good 24 hours to devote to it and that’s a lot of time investment for something that is not a pet or a child. I’ve only been using filtered water, yet the buildup is Much higher than I would’ve expected from using filtered water. It would be really nice to have a option to connect a filter somewhere along the hose line that goes from the side tank reservoir, leading into the icemaker that the customer could purchase the specific type of descaling and filtering type filter needed for their specific area and water hardness so that you could simply just use tapwater, and it would be filtered and processed properly before entering icemaker, thus protecting all the components inside of the icemaker. When I unplugged it to do the cleaning and scaling process for the first time, I noticed there was white substances leaking through the metal seams at/near the front of the machine. This is a bit concerning to me, as I can’t tell if it’s coolant leakage OR some type of acid or what is coming out there. I love the way. It is working so far in the ice production, I’m a little bit nervous about spending this much money and having it leaking stuff out of the “seams” this early in its life. I’m also not thrilled with having to be cleaning and descaling every 2 to 3 weeks and would’ve hoped for a better process for an appliance of this high dollar amount and what I perceive as top of the line equipment.

I absolutely love this jewel. I’ve had every other ice maker out there and have been disappointed with them all. Either they quit working or need to be filled after 2 glasses or some other issue but my new GE is perfect. Perfect nuggets perfect water storage perfect look it’s simply perfect and I love it.

So I had the original build and it was good however the new GE is AWESOME!!! It’s much better looking , makes lot more ice and it’s the life if the party every time !!! What can be better than great crushed ice ??? Nada , Nothing , Zilch !!!! Love this machine and you will too!!!!

I don't usually write reviews but my new opal deserves praise. It's pricey but WOW it's awesome. I've had other countertop ice makers but nothing like this. If you're looking for a top of the line, best bang for the buck, app controlled unit then this is the one for you.

Produces that Sonic Ice that everyone loves. Everyone in the house is hooked on it now. Friendly warning - make sure you filter your water. If you don’t use a filter or take the proper steps cleaning the unit then you’ll have trouble down the road and your unit will not work properly. No instructions on how to connect the unit to WiFi. Had to call Opal for assistance.

Was skeptical about spending the money for this machine but after getting it here and using it, I am so glad I pulled the trigger. Wife LOVES nugget ice and I was tired of having to drive 20 mins to get a bag constantly from local gas station. Now in minutes she has some right here on our counter.

My daughter purchased one and loved it so much and every time I went to her home I would get ice,I finally just broke down and bought me one best money I’ve spent in a long time. Easy set up once I plugged it in. It started making ice about 10 minutes later. I did a lot a reviews on different icemakers, but always come back to this one so glad I made this purchase.
