for 20 years I had an extremely expensive nugget ice machine; long before they were installed in homes. That machine was constantly in need of service and it was excellent and very expensive to maintain. Not only was that a source of irritation but the noise level was unbelievable. It was like having a commercial kitchen so noisy. This machine put out better ice and is so quiet you can barely hear any noise.

I love the nugget ice. It's just the right size and texture. Makes ice very quickly. The ice stays frozen for a long time. Much longer than I expected since it doesn't keep it frozen. I've only been using it for a month so I can't give a long term evaluation but I am extremely pleased so far. Only downside is that it was very pricy but it may be worth it in the long run and the need to purchase the scale inhibiting filters or distilled water. Hopefully this product will last us for many years.

This machine makes great nugget ice. However, it runs ALL of the time. If it is in idle mode and I open the bin to take out one tiny ice cube, the machine will run hogging up electricity for another 45-60 mins to create a couple little cubes and top of the bin. Perhaps I'm not using the machine correctly, or need to set a schedule so it doesn't think it needs to make ice all of the time. I'll read up on that. At this price point though, I had much higher expectations for the machine working efficiently and frankly just creating ice faster. It's a beautiful sleek looking product on the countertop. The side tank is a great feature as well so you don't have to keep taking out the ice bin to refill more water frequently. It would also be nice if a little more insulation was included around the ice bin so ice would hold longer without melting. You can see ice melt from all sides and appear as though it is shrinking inside the ice bin as space results around the sides of the ice from melting.

I was hesitant to purchase this ice maker due to the price. I finally did purchase it and boy am I glad I did. This ice maker produces the great nugget ice like you get at restaurants and it sits on your counter. It is a lot quieter than the other I had and makes a lot of ice.

I love the ice that the Opal makes. I love the tank that I can fill with distilled water so that my ice is always pure. This has made me an ice snob! I take my iced water to work with me every day in an insulated 40 ounce bottle so I always have cold water the way I want it.

I was given this as a birthday gift from my husband because he knows how much I love the "good ice!" Works well. Ice in "20 minutes" is a bit of a stretch...you will totally have ice in 20mins but not a glass full or enough to serve. It takes a good hour or more to fill the tub and its a bit noisy, But it does get the job done! I am so thrilled to have it!

This is my third opal machine. I was given a replacement of my second machine and not even 10 months later it is already making the same loud obnoxious noise as the first machine. The ice is good when it’s actually working, but the noise is beyond obnoxious and loud, and I’ve had to just shut it off and not use it. I was told there is no repair for this which is very unfortunate considering how much I have paid for these machines. I was also told there is no warranty on the last one they sent me even though it hasn’t even even been a year, because I originally purchased my first one two years ago. This makes no sense considering we’re talking about a completely different newer ice machine!! No protection for the buyer

The ice is great. The machine is apparently not. I got this neeer model after repeated problems with the older model developing a UV sanitation problem. Within a month or two the new one started to say “add water” when the water reservoir is full…I keep resetting/priming the pump. But it just repeats the problem over and over. .

I purchased the Opal 2 w/ side tank in Oct ‘21 for my house-warming party at my new Penthouse. Surprisingly, it was the hit of the party; none of my guests had ever seen one that makes the “nuggets”before. I’m approaching 3 full years since my purchase… it has been making ice “everyday” without any issues! I’ve strongly recommended this product to my family and friends… six of them have purchased their own. Lastly, this product is Golden-Retriever “Approved”… my Goldens love the nuggets!

This ice machine is better than anything I have ever purchased. It’s quiet, makes enough ice to start a small drive thru and it’s absolutely everything I wanted. Much better than any other product out there. (And I know because I have tried them) my pet pigs love nugget ice and this machine has been instrumental in ensuring their hydration throughout the day on these super hot days. Would recommend to anyone looking for a nugget ice maker.
