I am giving four stars and not five just due to the length of time I've had the machine. So far no problems and we are loving it. Can't imagine getting without the side tank as we are going through this ice pretty quickly. I do wish you could fill the side tank without removing it every time.

We love our ice maker. I debated this purchase due to the price for months…maybe even a year. I saved up and am not at all disappointed with my purchase. Helps me Drink more water also saves me from having to use our ice maker in my fridge that gets stuck all the time.

The quality of the machine is excellent. It makes the good eating ice pellets. Everything works as advertised with no big surprises. There are some things that I’ve noticed over time that could use improvement. The noise is a little annoying when the machine is running. The cleaning and sanitation procedure is time consuming. The weight of the machine makes cleaning a chore sometimes. Some upgrade toward convenience of use would help justify the price.

Super quiet, super fast, incredible machine. I honestly don't know how I lived without it. Setup was a breeze and cleaning is super easy. I use exclusively distilled water even though I don't live in a hard water area just to make sure I prolong the life of my Opal. It looks gorgeous on my counter and it starts making ice when it automatically senses that the drawer went down in volume. The dimmable light that shines into the drawer makes it stand out beautifully. Worth every penny!

GE Profile line is unmatched! This is my 3rd profile appliance and it is by far the best ice maker on the market. Within 15 mins of filling it up with water after cleaning all the new parts for the first use, it was already dropping beautiful nuggie ice!!! The taste is the freshest and tastey ice I've ever had. After seeing the reviews of the complaints being made it was easy to see it was all user error. I already knew GE would not disappoint with the opal. I am only using bottled water and couldn't imagine ruining this beauty with tap water. The current sale price was really nice too. Thank you GE for another beautiful machine.

The ice maker ran for about two months. It then started to make squeaking noises. We cleaned it. We defrosted it. Nothing seemed to work. Finally it we into defrost mode and would not produce ice, no matter what we did. By the way, we never used tap water. We use distilled water.

I have wanted a nugget ice maker and this is the perfect one if you aren’t wanting to spend thousands on an under cabinet one. Makes ice quick and keeps ice flowing so you never run out. Our friends and family love coming over so they can fill their cups up with it.

This ice machine does exactly what it says it will. It makes awesome nugget ice to chew on. I can not stress how much I love this machine but it does come with a couple of issues that I thought I would point out. Issue # 1) The app for this machine is misleading and doesn't work well. You need the SmartHQ app from Haier US Appliance, not from GE in order to connect this to the app. The GE Profile Opal app is for the 1.0 machine with the single circular button on the top. Issue #2) The scheduling app doesn't work well at all. If you do not have the app opened on your phone, the scheduler will not work. You can turn the ice machine on and off through the app just fine when you launch it, but the scheduler will not turn on the icemaker unless it is opened on your phone. Issue #3) The side water tank doesn't work very well unless you keep moving it up and down to get enough air in it so that it can push down the water. I take the tank out until not a lot of bubbles are rising to the top anymore and then it works ok but it is annoying to see that "Add Water" alert on the machine while the tank is full. Other than that, everything else is great! Buy it, clean it when it tells you to and enjoy!

Love the ice, but the noise is terrible! I’m literally in the process of vinegar soaking my opal. It literally sounds like a cat-fight during the defrost cycle. Hopefully a cleaning will fix the noise because if it doesn’t, this will go down as being one of the worst appliance purchases ever!

Buying an ice maker, you kind of know what you are getting into, so there isn't a lot to weigh in on as long as it makes ice. A couple things I do enjoy about this particular ice maker, confirming that the right choice was made: It connects to wifi and you can turn it on/start making ice from the App; it makes ice relatively quickly, so even as you are using the ice, it replenishes quickly enough that we didnt find ourselves waiting for more ice to come out; the biggest surprise was how much ice it made using the water inside and the side tank. I was expecting to have to refill after several uses, and the tank was only about half way depleted. This was one area that was much better than I expected.
