We have an open kitchen and living room and I love that I can program it to start about an hour before I get up and have fresh ice. But also if the husband is snoring too bad and I wanna sleep on the couch in silence I don't hear it running all night. Friends come over to visit and always ask to take a cup of ice home with them.

Huge fan of nugget ice and this unit satisfies the craving! Didn't think I would find myself using this as much as I currently am (with almost every beverage, daily), but we've had this for one month and the novelty does not wear off. We have this set up in our kitchen for now and it takes up a lot of counter space, but it is worth it. Some other reviews also comment on the sound while making ice - I don't find it distracting or overly noisy. Overall, excellent product!

I love ice. In my water in my coffee in pretty much enhances every cold drink. This machine is amazing! It’s not just ice. It’s the perfect size, perfect texture, even the temperature is just right. Ice is not too hard or too soft. If you love ice in your drink like I do you’ll understand. No regrets here. The only criticism is sometimes the machine makes some pretty loud noises. When this happens we all stop and laugh so no biggie.

The ice is almost like the ice you get at Sonic or some other places except it is just a little less airy and soft. I chew on ice all day due to dry mouth from medications and this doesn’t break my teeth. I have only had it for a few weeks but I already having an issue with it. When the ice fills up and stops making more, it will not resume making ice when it melts down or you use some. I have to turn it off then back on to make it work. Other than that, I love it.

This icemaker is relatively easy to set up. It is moderately loud, about the level of a quiet dishwasher. The ice is fantastic! Our liquid intake has definitely gone up since purchasing the icemaker. Highly recommend the side water tank option - much easier to fill with water. Only negatives are the ice will form a pile and trigger the ice maker to shut off before the bin is completely full. You have to spread the ice out to get it to start making ice again. Also requires periodic cleaning/descaling. Well the worth the minor gripes for great quality nugget ice.

Never have I been more pleased with an appliance purchase. The Opal ice maker was easy to set up and produces enough ice to easily sustain multiple water bottles and glasses being filled each day. It seems like within minutes of us closing the ice door with an empty bucket, it is filled again as soon as we turn around! The ice is delicious and does not dissolve quickly. My only advice is to make sure that when you drain the hoses, you do so next to sink. This process works much better than trying to empty into a bucket. Would absolutely recommend.

This machine makes great ice, but at the cost of your hearing (and sanity). machine started defrosting on the 1st cycle and says needs cleaning every other cycle, even though we use purified / distilled water. Btw, when the ice machine starts howling, better run. And don’t unplug it as you’ll lose the wifi setup and re-connection is a pain.

I love the ice, my husband loves it more than I do. Initially, it sounded like a dying cat, but that has mostly gone away. I'm hoping it was just a matter of breaking the machine in. I would love an option to purchase a warranty as I've heard these do break over time, I'm not sure how to do that since it was a gift. I would recommend this product if you love ice cold drinks, it's nicer to use than regular ice with soda because it causes a LOT less fizz.

The ice maker works fairly well. Occasionally, it will produced some ice similar to shaved ice, but produces perfect nuggets otherwise. The water basin is not the easiest to fill. The ice bin must be completely removed, and needs a plate or pan to rest to prevent water from the bottom getting on the counter, and to prevent contamination (water drains from bottom of bin back into basin). Bin area is poorly insulated, so ice continually melts and is remade. The is no refrigeration on the bin, unit only runs while making ice. When ice making starts, it pours water over the existing ice more a few minutes until the tubes freeze and start forming the nuggets. Cleaning is a little involved, but not terrible all things considered, especially if installed with a foot or so of a sink. Overall, it is a decent product, but for the price I would expect a little more than the basic design described above.

Th Opal 2.0 ice maker is a fabulous little ice maker. Dishing out wonderful small pellets of ice that we love putting in our drinks and water bottles. The device is not difficult to maintain, but make sure you clean it regularly or the machine will begin to make angry whirring and squeezing noises during the defrost cycle. Don’t blame the machine, turn it off and follow the cleaning instructions and it will happily start working again with its minor whirs and gear sounds making ice again. .
