I've had the opal 2 for about a month and I can say that I love the quality of the ice it makes. It's quiet and has a sleek look that fits great with my kitchen. Some cons would be the price and the cleaning procedures but if you have the time and money this shouldn't be a problem!

I have this product a 4 out of 5 because it is loud! If you don’t want to have the noise you will need to put it in an area that is not a common area. For example if you put it in your kitchen it will disrupt conversation because of how loud it is. Other than that it is a great ice machine! Also it is pricey.

I’ve been wanting my own nugget ice maker for years! It was the one thing I argued about with my husband about in our marriage lol. Since our refrigerators ice maker kept breaking or not making enough ice. I live in AZ and we need cold drinks! We need to drink water and no one likes warm water. Finally convinced my husband as a Valentine gift to get it for me. And it’s worth every penny! He gets it now! Drinks more water and we love how fast it makes ice. There’s something about drinking your soda/juice/adult drinks with the nugget ice that isn’t the same as other ice. It makes it cold without water it down so fast. Every sip is perfect!

My wife really wanted one of these because she drinks a lot of water and LOVES the ice from Son1c. We got this and there is both good and bad. Bad first - it seems that it shouldn't be this expensive. Second - Ours started making a screeching noise randomly in the very first week. This is actually a known problem so I'm not sure why it is still happening. On the plus side, it really does make great ice and it is cleaver how it reuses ice melt to keep the bin full and reduce refills. In the end, we are exchanging our first unit for a new one, but for sure keeping, and loving it.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It doesn’t seem to matter how great your ice maker is in your fridge because most people love ice and there’s never enough. With this ice maker it’s not a problem. It’s also nice that it’s portable so that it can be moved around for parties and events. It works fast and quiet and looks great on the counter. The ice is perfect size & texture.

We absolutely love this icemaker! The ice is amazing, the set up was very simple, and it works better than expected. We love the app that makes it very easy to program the machine to produce ice when we are most likely to need it. Very nice addition to our kitchen appliances.

I love the ice this machine makes as I am constantly chewing on the ice. This is the 3rd machine I’ve bought in the last 4 years. I clean it on a regular basis and maintain it as instructed. These machines are expensive and should last longer than they do. I also like the larger tank compared with the smaller one it now comes with. Lucky for me I still have my larger tank.

The ice is small, soft, nugget ice, my wife and kids loved it when they could get it. However, I could only make about one glass of ice before it would make a horrible grinding screeching noise that was audible through the whole house and required me to shut it off and let the whole thing sit for a while. So, that was pretty annoying and underwhelming.

Th Opal 2.0 ice maker is a fabulous little ice maker. Dishing out wonderful small pellets of ice that we love putting in our drinks and water bottles. The device is not difficult to maintain, but make sure you clean it regularly or the machine will begin to make angry whirring and squeezing noises during the defrost cycle. Don’t blame the machine, turn it off and follow the cleaning instructions and it will happily start working again with its minor whirs and gear sounds making ice again. .

Two factors really delayed our purchase of the GE Profile Opal nugget ice maker - shockingly high price, and - lower daily capacity than the standard countertop ice maker (24 lbs instead of the typical 26 lbs) HOWEVER, here is why the GE Profile Opal nugget ice maker is well worth it: #1 - in the last 5 years we've gone through at least 5 or 6 countertop ice makers. They are super difficult to clean. They either stopped working within a year or the internal plastics broke. The last one we had was so dirty we used bleach/water and it corroded the chrome plated parts that touch the water to make ice. In other words, we've spent almost as much in total as the price of the GE Profile Opal! #2 - although the standard ice makers make 26 lbs per day, the internal baskets are small (with just enough for maybe two cups-full of ice) and stop producing ice until you take some out of the basket. There are four of us at home and there was NEVER enough ice for all of us! With the GE Profile Opal, because it is nugget ice (small pieces) and the basket holds a lot of ice, we can easily fill up 5 or 6 cups completely full of ice and it makes more fairly quickly. 24 lbs per day all of the sudden seems more than adequate! #3 - the standard countertop ice makers are virtually impossible to clean. I've actually broken the plastics on at least two of those machines while cleaning and one of them stopped working after a cleaning. The GE Profile Opal is still a bit of work to clean as you have to drain water through the tube from the back, but it's much easier and better! #4 - nugget ice is just the BEST ice!!!! Sorry, I know that is a personal perspective but WE LOVE IT. A great day for us was going to Sonic and get a drink with nugget ice. Now we can do it at home!!! If the GE Profile Opal fails before at least 5 years, Frankly, I will be VERY upset but at this point we are super glad we purchased it. I do which is was a bit less expensive but if it last 5 years, it is very much worth it.
