We love our new nugget ice maker. Only issue is refilling the side tank, it can be messy. You have to be very careful when you flip the tank back in to the water tank. If there is too much water left in the tank, it goes everywhere. Can be a bit noisy, but only when making ice - this does not bother us much.

The ice this machine makes is great, it's exactly what we wanted. I noticed after about a week or so of operation, the rate ice production starts to slow down and it seems to defrost more often. Eventually it starts spending more time defrosting than making ice. The instructions recommend running it through a cleaning cycle once a week. Doing the cleaning takes care of the problem, but the cleaning process is a little bit of a pain. You have to make a solution of water & bleach, and run that through the machine, then drain it and run 3 more cycles of clean water through it. The whole thing takes 20-30 mins, which wouldn't be so bad if it was a few times a year, but weekly is more than annoying.

I bought this ice maker with the money I won from my disability case. I have a ton of health issues and have been issuing bagged ice for a while now and my hands and back don’t like me picking them up. I bought this machine to help me get ice easily as I use tons of it a day and esp if I have company over it’s worked great I would def buy it again

Have only had this product up and running for About a week now, but the quality of the ice is absolutely amazing and as close to sonic ice as you could get. It is also very quick at making ice so you can guarantee that you will have a Cup full of ice in no time

I needed an ice maker to supplement the supply of my current refrigerator. This ice maker is perfect! It takes up very little counter space, the external water tank means filling up the tank less frequently, and the ice is made VERY quickly. So happy with this purchase!

Worked great for almost two months, then started making this loud crying/screeching sound. Turned off and on about 3 hrs later and it was fine for 1/2 day and now making that sound again. So expensive to be having issues like this. Will call customer service

It’s a great product only when it’s working for the short period but when it’s not working it’s trash! Barely worked for over a year, had to have the first one replaced. Second just out of warranty and won’t stop making a loud noise! They won’t sell you new parts for machine! Complete trash! No help. A 500 dollar product should last longer than a year or even over year and half. Ridiculous.

I recently purchased the GE Ice Maker, and I am delighted with it! The setup process was simple, and I was able to start making ice right away. The ice maker is very convenient, especially since my refrigerator does not have one. The nugget ice cubes are convenient for refilling my water bottles, refreshing drinks, and iced coffee, and the machine produces them quickly. I also appreciate that it only takes up a little counter space. I highly recommend the GE Ice Maker to anyone needing a reliable and efficient ice maker.

We have had this just over 1 1/2 years. It started "acting up" about 5 months ago. It would say "add water" when the tank was full and not make ice. It has since started making this awful LOUD noise periodically during ice making. For the cost, IT IS NOT WORTH IT

After reading some of the reviews that complained about the noise and some machines being slow to make ice, I was having doubts. Decided to take a chance and what a great surprise we discovered the first batch. The opal II has made approx. 20lbs a day every time we use it and we have yet to be bothered by excessive noise. It's a great machine and a big addition to our home.
