We love our ice maker however one week into use it has made these horrible screeching sounds. I have performed the cleaning cycle and also started a weekly routing but this definitely has been cumbersome just the maintenance alone. Without the sound and all the maintenance this would easily be a 5 star rating.

First off the GE Opal 2.0 Ice Maker itself is fantastic with the type of and production of ice that it makes. SONIC ICE. There is no question about it when it comes to this. It is second to none. Its fast, quiet (slight hum) and holds & keeps ice available with having to continuously run the machine. FLAWS: Cleaning it can be a large pain in the butt depending more on the placement in your situation. If you have to move it to a sink, its not a light weight machine, so keep that in mind. The wifi app allows very basic integration with Alexa and Google Assistant. Like turn on and turn off the machine and light. That's it. You can not ask them what is the water level or if it's time to add water. They have no clue. There are no PUSH NOTIFICATIONS to your phone like every other app out there in the world for Smart Appliances or Lights. Example you go to work and want to turn on you machine on the drive home (something happened while you were away and water in the system. You will not know until you arrive home) It would be great to a Push Notification stating that if you use your Voice Assistant to turn it on. The only way to know is if you go into the app which defeats Voice App integration in the first place. I'm not sure how dumb a company has to be or how important this functionality is when it comes to using your voice to operate a machine you paid $$$$ because of getting such features and not fully delivering on it, but for me, I feel cheated at this price point. Last Flaw: it does have a scheduler, again no Push Notification if you run out of water, that is easy to program. But there is not a scheduler for the built-in light feature. This is controlled by the app and manual only. WHY? With the average ice makers of this size are a lot less expensive, why am I paying so much more, without getting so much more features I assumed would be present at this price point? Typos may or may not present

Our fridge doesn't have an ice maker in our apartment. And with my wife being pregnant in the middle of summer she needed ice cold drinks to get her through it. We got this and she couldn't be happier always having the nugget ice to to chew while she enjoys her lemonade.

We've had the ice maker 1 month now and so far it's been great. It is wonderful having a constant supply of ice, whereas or refrigerator with 2 ice makers just couldn't keep up. It was easy to set up out of the box. The only thing of concern is that the ice maker is not entirely quiet all the time, but one gets used to it over time. Overall, a great addition to our kitchen.

My wife is all about the nugget ice. And not having to go out to a restaurant to get some and stock up is very nice. Having it at our beck and call when we want ice we have it. Very nice addition to the kitchen and everyday routine. I have had to clean it a few times already after only having it just over a month. But I assume that is due to the water that we are using verses any actual fault of the ice maker. It is worth the money if your family is always wanting cool drinks or bags of ice for sore muscles

I have been buying bags of ice at Chick fil a for a while My husband surprised me on Christmas Day with this Ice Maker My entire family now is drinking more water since having this ice maker. We are extremely happy with it. Just a warning you do need space for it

I love the GE profile opal ice machine when I first got it. 1 week before the 1 yr warranty gave up it quit making ice. I sent it in to GE to repair and 8 weeks later I received a referbished one that made loud noise. This one only worked for 4 weeks and the warranty is expired now. Not a happy customer!

This machine works amazing, it produces a lot of ice and the water reserve holds a good amount of water so you don't have to constantly fill it. You should check cabinet height if you plan on putting it under a cabinet, it's pretty tall and was really close to our upper cabinets

I love my Profile pebble ice maker. It was a piece of cake to install. Works like a dream and makes the best pebble ice ever. The bluetooth feature makes setting a schedule for ice making so convenient too. I tried other brands and this one shines above them all. Way to go GE!

I don't usually write reviews but my new opal deserves praise. It's pricey but WOW it's awesome. I've had other countertop ice makers but nothing like this. If you're looking for a top of the line, best bang for the buck, app controlled unit then this is the one for you.
