I love this new Opal ice maker. Looks great. Compact stylish design that blends well with all the other appliances. Its quiet with just a very low hum when in operation. A few little ticks as the nuggets of ice are dispensed when they hit the plastic bin. Don't even notice it's there until you need ice. Only issue I've had is getting the controls to work on wifi/app. App brings up the ice maker and shows status, however it does not have any effect on it when you try to use any of the control functions (doesn't cycle power or light). But all in all, not a function I use that much anyway.

The ice is amazing. The machine makes so much noise we can hear it upstairs with our bedroom door closed. I bought this on the 19th of October 2024 and returning tomorrow. The machine is so loud it woke my kids up. It sounds like belts/bearings grinding together. If I could give it 0stars I would. This is the 2nd opal in the last month. As much as my family loves the ice we will never buy another GE product ever again.

i am so upset with this machine. the ice itself is lovely. however, i cannot enjoy it due to the high pick shrieking that this device makes. i have tried to trouble shoot everything! no luck. this was so close to being perfect - instead, it’s a torture device!

Our family loves the ice that this product makes. It is the perfect consistency. It produces the ice very quickly. I like that you can manage it through an app and schedule the ice production. The side water container is also helpful for as much ice as we go through in a day. It would be nice if it could be attached directly to a water line, though.

This ice maker is one awesome appliance. I have tried other nugget ice makers and the Opal beats them all hands down. It makes ice very quickly which is great since all five of us are getting ice through out the day and have never run out. The Opal is no louder than a mini fridge when it's running. It's very easy to setup and maintain.

My junk 2 year old Samsung refrigerators ice machine quit working and we use a lot of ice in our home so I decided to buy this machine and it has been perfect. The "good ice" is perfect and the machine makes ice unbelievably fast. Very happy with the purchase.

Love most of it. Great ice, constant feed. The reservoir shouldn't cost extra. Should come with the first filter. Watery. The tray is a poor excuse for dripping when it opens. Should hold more ice. Just a couple of people use it at a party and the ice is gone. The Wifi app is underwhelming. Should have more and better features.

This ice maker is the best! We had a smaller counter ice maker before this one. It was so small and only held about one large ice tea cup worth of ice. This ice maker is amazing. I love love love the crunchy ice and it makes enough ice for several large ice teas (a must in my family)

I absolutely LOVE nugget ice and saved up to buy this machine. It worked great for a month and a half and then started this awful squeeling noise when producing ice. I've followed all directions of cleaning, the machine doesn't go into auto defrost mode so it doesn't need to defrost. I have googled and youtubed the heck out of ways to get it to stop and it won't. Super frustrating since the price tag of this machine is not cheap. It appears to be a well known problem that I would have hoped GE would have resolved or recalled by now. Unfortuantley until the issue is fixed, I couldn't recommend this product to friends. Which is sad becuase I have all other GE applicances in my house and love them.

I purchased this ice maker on 12/4/23. As of 8/15/24 it's making an extremely loud banging noise and cannot be used. I use this ice maker heavily and was happy with it, until now. I descale it every 2-3 weeks so maintenance on my part isn't lacking. I'm currently attempting to contact GE support today 8/19/24, will update this review with the outcome.
