I purchased this last month as an anniversary gift. She makes ice about every third day. So far, it keeps me from having to go Sonic every other day to buy a bag of ice. I would have given 5 stars, but I'm waiting to see the longevity of this product. I did purchase a 4 year extended warranty.

We will never be able to be satisfied with ice cubes ever again, now that we've used our GE opal ice maker! We absolutely love it! We go through about three buckets a day. It makes ice so quickly, it is the perfect kind of ice;; not to melty not to frozen. It also is incredibly easy to clean and maintain! Super glad we invested in this appliance for our family. Even our friends will ask for a tall glass of ice water when they come over for a movie nights.

Had this product for about three weeks and after about three weeks when the machine was making ice it now has a squealing noise that it makes. It tends to make the noise when it is working on dispensing the ice nuggets into the ice bin. For the price paid for the machine it is really frustrating and disappointing to be having issues so soon with the appliance.

Purchased the 2.0 after our first model (which we replaced once through warranty) died just days after our 1 year warranty ended. The new location of the fan in the back is nice, but it sure seems more noisy than our first model and lets out an occasional “horrifying” scream. Also a little disappointed with the smaller side tank vs. the first. Love the ice, but was sure to buy the extended 5 year warranty.

We really like the ice maker, while it worked. Unfortunately, we had to return ours after just seven months of use. It would no longer produce ice regardless of all the troubleshooting and cleaning we went thru. The replacement only last as long, another 7 months. We are a family of 5 who used it daily, but not overused. The warranty is just 12 months from original date of purchase, even though I had a replacement for just 7 months, so we were out of luck. For being one of the more expensive models on the market, we expected a longer-lasting better quality machine.

I've tried other nugget ice makers and was disappointed. Constant cleaning, loud and then they just died. I upgraded and love this one. Easy to clean runs quietly. Just run the cleaning cycle with vinegar ever few weeks let it sit over night draining and rinse a few time and it's good as new.

I love my Opal 2.0. I was very nervous because it's such a big purchase. I researched and read many reviews. I am very pleased with the Opal overall. The cleaning process is a little time consuming but, worth it. The ice is perfect. Yes, it does make voice but it is no worse than other electronic appliance. It has been well worth every penny. I love that I can set a schedule. I ordered on Monday morning and it was delivered Tuesday afternoon. Ordering direct from GE was the best price around. The drip tray is a must, every time you open the compartment for ice, there is water that will drip. My only real complaint is that the water filter is apparently not something that is available yet. I really wish there was a filter. The opal makes plenty of ice, even when we've had multiple people making drinks we have never run into. Well worth the investment!!!

We are really, really happy with the Opal! It has exceeded our expectations and gives just enough ice to service four people WELL. I was initially intimidated with the "cleaning" process. But, the instructions are very clear and cleaning is not a hassle. I clean it about every two weeks...but I do use filtered water.

I've been wanting this ice machine for a long time! My boyfriend gave it to me for Christmas. Best gift ever! It works perfectly and now I get the “good” ice anytime I want! Tip: Read the instructions before setting it up. It will save you tons of time! Lol!

Works great, makes fantastic ice! FYI........ I received the “Add Water” notification after about 20 minutes into the ice making cycle, but the side tank still had plenty of water. I realized that I had too many things plugged into the same outlet as the ice maker. Once I unplugged the other appliance, the machine started making ice and I haven't had that issue again.
