I am SO jealous of all the great reviews for this product. We have been working with GE Customer Support for nearly 3 months now on either repairing or replacing our Opal icemaker. We purchased this in May and by August, it had stopped making ice. GE sent us another one (took nearly two months to arrive). This one (apparently a refurbished unit) didn't work either! We loved the wonderful Sonic-like ice during the FOUR MONTHS it actually worked.

I use my opal on a daily basis, for my ice blended coffee each morning and lots of ice water all day long. When we have company staying they love a fun cocktail over ice or a blended coffee or a protein shake this is makes it all easy and yum! Highly recommend 💗💗

The product works amazing. We did have an issue with the unit making very loud squealing noise constantly but GE sent us a new unit after speaking with customer service. We love the nugget ice so much that my parents and sister's now both have a GE Profile Opal 2.0 ice maker

I love my GE opal icemaker. We have two homes and I have one at each of the houses (because they’re in different cities and it’s a long way to travel to get fresh ice each day 🤣). All of our friends and family love it as well. I have shared the link for it with several people. I’ve also purchased it and gifted it to two family members who were really covering mine. I have had the one at my summer home for five years and I’ve had no problems with it. The one at my Winter home I’ve had for maybe a year. No problems with it thus far either. Although, I’m not very techy, and so I have my assistant set it up and program it for me. Love, love, love it!

Our family loves the ice that this product makes. It is the perfect consistency. It produces the ice very quickly. I like that you can manage it through an app and schedule the ice production. The side water container is also helpful for as much ice as we go through in a day. It would be nice if it could be attached directly to a water line, though.

Our ice maker went out on the fridge and bought this as a backup. We love the ice it makes and use it all the time. It is a little bit out as it sits on a countertop not surrounded by anything to block the noise. We make slushies for the grandkids and they love it. We use distilled water to reduce the cleaning needed.

Here are the major differences: The casing corners are now rounded, The circle LED indicator has been replaced by "touch-sensitive" buttons on the front, as well as distinct word labels stating what the appliance is doing. This includes replacing the rear slider switch for cleaning with touch-button functionality in the front - The plastic ice bin no longer has holes along the rear-bottom; a spring-loaded hole has been added that opens only when the bin is slid all the way into the appliance, thereby preventing drips when fully removing the bin - Overall, the appliance does appear quieter, though that's more subjective - Biggy: when draining the water while cleaning, it completely drips.

I was so excited to get this because my sister has one and I am the ice lover! Mine worked perfectly for about 1 week and then it stopped making ice. I couldn't figure out what the problem was and was literally getting ready to return it. My son read some comments and apparently someone else had the same issue and they unplugged it for several hours to reset everything. It's still not making ice like it was but at least it is making some.

for 20 years I had an extremely expensive nugget ice machine; long before they were installed in homes. That machine was constantly in need of service and it was excellent and very expensive to maintain. Not only was that a source of irritation but the noise level was unbelievable. It was like having a commercial kitchen so noisy. This machine put out better ice and is so quiet you can barely hear any noise.

I love it! I just hope the ice keeps up during the summer. Currently, the weather is cold, and I’m not sure how well it will do in the summer due to the ice slightly melting over night when it’s not making ice. The unit is not “refrigerated “ so the ice naturally melts if it’s not in use and not actively making the ice.
