I have been pondering this purchase for about 3 years. I waited too long! I should have ordered it 3 years ago. I love this ice machine. It is VERY quiet, very efficient in making ice and very easy to use. This machine does not take up very much space and is very attractive on my countertop. When I brag to others about my ice machine, I find out that others that have also purchased this unit are extremely happy with it, too. I have yet to find anyone that I know that dislikes this ice machine!

The quality of the machine is excellent. It makes the good eating ice pellets. Everything works as advertised with no big surprises. There are some things that I’ve noticed over time that could use improvement. The noise is a little annoying when the machine is running. The cleaning and sanitation procedure is time consuming. The weight of the machine makes cleaning a chore sometimes. Some upgrade toward convenience of use would help justify the price.

While at first we loved this ice maker, it is perpetually moldy at the bottom. We clean it out at least weekly (with bleach!) & only put Brita filtered water in the reservoir. It is incredibly frustrating as the ice holder always has mold at the bottom. We even took it apart and clean the insides and replaced tubing. It is not easy to clean and it doesn't seem like considerations for cleaning were ever acknowledged in the manufacturing of this product. No way others don't have the same issue and we regret this purchase.

This has changed the game for me. I am drinking even more water because I look forward to the “good ice”! It’s fabulous! The only thing I did not expect was the noise. The motor is loud and I had to press the back panel to muffle the vibrating noise. If it were quieter, I would absolutely give this a five star review.

I have coveted this ice maker for some time. I LOVE chewable ice but I was hesitant to spend so much money on myself. Well, I’m worth it! Set up was quick and cleaning isn’t difficult or time consuming. There are 2 things that I wish were in the instruction manual. 1) there is no mention of the optional filter. I buy them from Amazon. I’ve used both the GE brand and the Glacier Bay brand. They seem to both last about 2 months. 2) I battled to set up the WiFi. I foolishly guessed I should use the Opal app but I eventually learned from reading a blog about something else that the Opal app is only for blue tooth. The correct app is called SmartHQ. The app is helpful as you can set a schedule and it tells you when the ice maker needs cleaning. I set mine up in my laundry room near the sink for ease of draining during cleaning, but you could easily use a bucket of it weren’t near a sink. It is a bit heavy to move. One thing I’m not clear on is the light, nothing in the manual describes the purpose for the light (off/dim/on) but I’ve read the blue light helps keep it clean. I have no idea if this is true or not??? As for noise, it really isn’t noisy. It makes some noise when making ice but I can’t hear it from the kitchen which is the room next door. Long story short, I love it.

I've been through a handful of ice machines over the years and none of them were "just right". Now, times have changed and GE has answered the call of what I can only assume to be the cry of the public to have that "GOOD ICE" at home and here we are.....THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!! I have absolutely 0 complaints and only wish I could give one to all my friends too!

We love how quick and great the ice maker is ~ however a week after buying it, it started making a loud screeching sound heard all throughout the house that no matter how much we tried to follow the directions and fix, it always started up again. Literally a week after buying, and now that we are getting it replaced it will be with a refurbished one. So went from a brand new one, to a replacement refurbished one :/

I use to have to stop at certain places within our town to get chewable ice. Now I have a steady supply right at home! The app allows you to program the run time on the machine so the ice is ready when you are. I’ve even turned my machine on remotely before I left work!

I love the product. This is my second one. The first lasted just one year but I had not cleaned it as often as recommended so I took ownership of that and just replaced it. This new one has been about 4 months and it has grinded and moaned and made terrible noises since it was about 2 months old. I clean it often but the loud noise is horrific

I love the ice but the maker requires a lot of work. You have to descale and clean out the lines at least 2 times a month. If not it will make the most awful sounds, it will leak. Thankfully, we have learned how to take it apart to do a deep clean after a year and I have to say it was needed. The lines were disgusting even with us cleaning it once a month. Now we have learned it needs to be cleaned more frequently. Other than that it makes the best ice and it's connected to my phone so I can do diagnostics and even set schedules.
