After months of contemplating this purchase to supplement my refrigerator ice maker that freezes up, I finally pulled the trigger and am so glad I did. While there is some maintenance/cleaning involved and it’s a little noisy, the pros more than outweigh the cons. The ice maker keeps up with our household demands, which are fairly high, and having the nugget ice is just an added benefit. I do not regret spending the amount I did to purchase this.

We’ve had four countertop ice makers. The first three died within six months and produced very small amounts of ice. The Opal is fantastic. Copious amounts of ice, very quickly. Ice stays frozen in the bin for days. Refillable reservoir is convenient and so easy.

I can't really say a whole lot because it's her feelings more than mine but I will say she is absolutely loving this thing she doesn't care about chilling sodas anymore she turns it on in the morning and it runs until the evening just so she has fresh eyes cops and cups worth but I can't say I'm glad she's getting her water at least haha but I'll seriousness this product is great it's a bit heavy but it's all a construction the additional reservoir really makes it easy to keep it going it is shiny so it matches most of the appliances we got for a wedding honestly great purchase.

I’ve produced is great. Noise level is acceptable but when the room is quiet that’s all you hear. Opening the bin for ice always drips water condensation just directly in front of machine. I know there’s a drip catcher but there’s a design error if you need the catcher.

This is a great icemaker. It makes ice quickly and it is so convenient to access the ice. It is so quiet when it is operating and has a soft light that illuminates the kitchen at night. One of my favorite aspects of the machine is that the ice is always fresh and you do not have to worry about the ice taking on smells from the food in your refrigerator such as onions. One of my favorite appliances in my kitchen.

I purchased this Opal after receiving an older gen model for my birthday and having nothing but problems with it. Immediately I could tell that the GE product team made significant efforts to address customer pain points. It’s quieter, doesn’t take in as much dust on the vents, and the app tells you when your machine needs to be descaled. You don’t have to listen to the awful screeching and try and diagnose the issue on YouTube. I’ve come to realize my water is still hard due to the salt we use in our softening system and Opal will need to be descaled every few weeks. But at least now I know!

I have wanted one of these for the longest time and my husband treated me this Christmas. This ice maker has been a present for the entire family. It can crank out ice in no time and we never run out. Set up was very easy. I was very surprised to find out that even though it is not refrigerated, there is still ice in the morning after being turned off over night. It also runs pretty quiet and the hum of the machine has just become another normal sound in our house. It has 100% lived up to what was advertised as far as I am concerned.

This is one of the coolest ideas to come along in a long time. We use nearly a full tub of ice daily and love the soft chewy ice. We just wish we had bought it sooner. Haven't needed to go to Sonic since we bought it. We nearly bought the previous model, but we're much happier with the updated Opal 2.0 model.

Keeps saying add water when there is plenty of water in both tanks, so stops making ice. This has been going on for two after I bought it. I keep unplugging it then unplugging it back in and will work for a few hours or days then the add water light comes back on, yet there is plenty of water. I won't buy another product from them.

The machine was super easy to set up. When I first set it up and cleaned it, I got water all over the place as I didn't have the machine next to the sink for the water to dump into. It took a couple rounds for me to get the hang of it, but then it was a piece of cake. I'm so glad I read all the reviews to help me decide whether or not to get the extra side tank and thankful to the reviewers who said they're so glad they got the extra side tank. Now I'm the one who's so glad I got the extra side tank. We go through this ice pretty quickly and having that extra tank prevents me from having to fill the machine every single day. Of course, the ice is the best. You're probably looking at this ice maker BECAUSE of the nugget ice. It's so soft and easy to chew. Everybody loves it. And you get ice within the first 20 minutes of plugging it in. The ice maker box fills up very quickly. The instant you scoop ice out and close the drawer, the maker starts filling back up. There is a noticeable sound, but it's not enough to bother me. The light inside the ice maker is a nice touch. It gives my kitchen a nice soft glow at night.
