Take care of this machine and it will take care of you and by that I mean frequent cleanings and descalings. We’ve never had an issue with the 2.0 we had the 1.0 before they made a lot of improvements I would definitely recommend this ice machine but I’m serious about keeping it clean…

This is my second GE Opal 2 ice maker. The first the ex took lol. My experience with the first Opal was great so I decide to buy another. The Opal works great, and the ice taste great also. It’s easy to setup. I love the fact that it use the same water as it melts. I would recommend this product to anyone looking for a ice maker

Makes the best ice & super easy to clean. The only thing is that I wish it didn’t automatically make ice everytime you get ice from it. It’d be good to make on demand or request vs just triggering to make every time you take a scoop. Still - my favorite “appliance”. Use it literally every day & I’m probably more hydrated because of it.

Yes - this is the “good ice”! Those who want the crunchy/chewy crystallized ice will be satisfied with the ice this machine makes. Better known as “nugget ice” this machine makes a more pellet shaped ice. The stainless steel is nicely done and the build quality seems on par. This machine is loud when making ice - so this can be annoying in some circumstances. And, there seems to be no internal sustainment refrigeration to keep ice already made from melting (as your full size refrigerator does). Overall, we are currently satisfied with this product/purchase. It’s pricey - but for people like us who like this type of ice - it’s worth the cost. Now - my title [this is the one] is for 2 reasons. For me - I’ve had a long history of being disappointed in Products from GE. Therefore, I’ve moved on to other manufacturers. This is a do or die product purchase for me. If this operates trouble free for a reasonable period of time - I may have to rethink GE and quality. If it doesn’t - I’m done. Fingers crossed and hoping this one is a Great One! db

This was the BEST addition to our new kitchen remodel. Bought it for my husband as a Christmas gift. It is sleek and an eye catcher. The set up was so easy. Much quieter than I read on online reviews. Ice is spectacular. A great addition to any kitchen and home bar.

I bought this as a Christmas gift for my boyfriend because he would buy cups of ice EVERY day from Sonic or other location that had an ice machine that made nugget style ice. It works perfectly... and has changed our lives... lol... I recommend this product 100%

The instructions to install are super lengthy and not extremely clear. I typically like to follow instructions for items like this so I’m less likely to have issues later. Also the app doesn’t seem to be working, I’ve attempted to reset my GE password 4 times each time saying it was successful but still unable to login to the app. I know my password is correct as I am able to login to the GE website with each new password.

This is our second one. This time we bought a special water filter because we have hard water up where we live. I also bought the GE Opal filter and installed it and we followed the recommended cleaning schedule. After three weeks, it crapped out after doing all these things.

I was skeptical about clumping and lack of refrigeration but the ice last a long time and as it melts it recycles and makes more. The clumping isn’t an issue either because the nuggets break apart with barely a touch. The texture of the ice is perfect and easy to chew and is just like Sonic ice. Hoping GE add this ice to their refrigerator line because I would buy that in a minute.

We are drinking more water because the ice is just that good. I have heard reviews that the ice maker is noisy, it's an ice maker and will produce some noise but it is a non issue for us. Produces a good amount and the 2.0 is certainly worth the extra cost; having new ice when we want it; on a schedule is a bonus.
