The best ice machine EVER!! It's absolutely perfect. Perfect soft ice biggest!! It's quiet, you can use the app and set when you want it to make ice! It's incredibly indulgent, but after 3 cheap ice makers we researched, read all the good reviews and watched YouTube videos. It was clear this is the best model on the market. I'm thankful we bought this! With summer here, cocktails are a breeze and iced coffee is even better with nugget ice!!

Didn't think we would Use it. Kids bought it for us for Christmas. But it has come in handy. After a year we did get some loud noises coming from the gear box. Had to oil bearings and now it is back to running. It will keep up with four grown men drinking whiskey and coke!

I bought this because I wanted the convenience of ice on demand, the durability of GE products, and who doesn't love nugget ice?! It does what it says without any issues thus far, and we have more space in our freezer! We have a pretty small fridge without an ice maker so it was a pain to make several trays of ice and empty them into the bucket. Inevitably, someone would leave an ice cube or two without filling the ice trays. And ice trays also get dirty and cause all that stuff to go in your ice. Now i don't have to worry about it anymore! I use distilled water in mine, and I've found it doesn't use too much of the water from the reservoir, just the water from the ice as it melts. Cleaning it is easy, and I've heard it should really be kept up on, on a weekly basis. The machine starts making ice as soon as the ice level drops, whether that means it's melting, or you open the door to pull some out. Basically, you'll always have ice unless you use the scheduling feature on the app. I definitely recommend this to others!

I was sooo excited for this ice maker, I'd wanted one for years and my husband bought it for my birthday. It never worked, after reading reviews we decided to get a refund rather than replacement because so many people had problems, and I wasn't confident it would work for more than 6 months to a year after getting a new one when I saw other experiences. For how expensive it is there shouldn't be this many people having issues.

The Opal 2.0 makes wonderful ice quickly and efficiently, but is prone to mechanical failure which cannot be avoided by simply frequent cleaning as instructed by the manual. Rather, users need to be told it must use only distilled water or the equivalent. Typical home drinking water filters won't prevent scale build up that will render the machine inoperable notwithstanding regular cleanings in less than a year. Once the scale has accumulated the only remedy is to disassemble the unit and clean all internal parts that handle water with vinegar by direct application.

This is the al around best way to have ice, with water, child drink, soda, or an adult drink. It was easy to setup as the directions were easy to follow. Once yo complete the initial cleaning it started making ice right away. I would recommend this ice machine for anyone looking for this type of ice or an ice machine in general.

I bought this for my wife for Christmas. She had borrowed two friends nugget ice makers several times because she really likes nugget ice. I knew my wife really wanted one but I wanted a quality one, not a cheap one. I did lots of research and found that the GE Opal always ranked high and had great reviews. We have been totally impressed with this ice maker. My wife's even got me hooked on nugget ice. It is WAY quieter than our friends. You really don't hear it unless you are in the kitchen. When we had used our friends ice makers, they were very loud. Some other things I really like about the GE Opal 2 - it makes ice very fast. It connects to WiFi so you can turn it on/off remotely. You can set a schedule for it to turn on/off at certain times. If you want your ice maker running in tip top shape and for it to last, you want to be faithful in doing this maintenance. Overall, we love this ice maker and are very pleased with it. I laugh at my wife because she bags the ice in 2 gallon bags and hands it out to friends and neighbors. She really likes her nugget ice. This GE Opal 2.0 is a workhorse and keeps her and all our friends very happy.

I've been wanting this ice maker for years. Years!! I finally got it for Christmas and I couldn't be happier! Couldn't be happier with it. Super easy to set up, easy to clean (1-2x per month). I love that it fits nicely on my counter, under the upper cabinet. Very happy with this product :)

This ice maker makes soft ice which is great for drinks and transfers easily into our water bottles. We make ice daily with it and fill up our water bottles, putting them in the refrigerator to add beverages or water as desired. Our biggest challenge was to get in the habit of turning the ice maker on when we get up in the morning as it does take some time to generate the bin full of ice.

We've had our ice maker 3 months and it already died, started emitting a weird burnt metal / plastic smell, I think essentially the intake fan failed or the motor burned out. The ice making works fine and no issues with sound (I think it's pretty quiet) . This machine makes the best ice but I'm bummed that the machine gave out so quickly especially when I babied it, cleaned it on schedule and followed all instructions incl using only distilled water. A lot of hassle and expense for something just to die on me.
