We love our ice maker!! After our freezer ice maker broke, we were buying ice from chick-fil-a weekly. That became a pain so we purchased the opal. Life changing! Love the ability to set a schedule and boom you have ice! No more chick-fil-a ice here! We have our own nugget ice now!! Just wish it kept the ice frozen!

We’ve had our ice maker for a few weeks now, and we love it so far. Makes plenty of ice for us every day, and love that it’s easy to clean. It does take up a bit of counter space, but it’s so worth it. The nugget ice is perfect, and just like that popular fast food chain ice!

The ice maker makes the nugget, 'Sonic' ice that was desired. However, it is quite loud (especially as it ages and marches toward its demise). Lasted 3ish years and support spends time telling you to do what you've already done, but then there's no real fixing it. Don't really love disposable products, can't these be built to last and/or built to be fixed?

My family could not be happier with nugget ice maker. With our family of 5 ice addicts we are filling the water twice a day. Only took 1 star as it does have a machine noise that is definitely noticeable. If you are sensitive to that and do not have a place you can put away, this will not be for you

I have been eyeing this ice maker for the longest time. I knew going cheap was not the answer for the long haul and the reviews on this machine helped me finally purchase it! It is worth every penny, no lie. The ice is the best! I'm not kidding, I've probably ate around 10LBS of ice so far and I've only owned it for a month. The app is easy to maneuver and it let's me know when my machine needs to be cleaned. The buttons on the machine are easy as well. I like the two different light settings, which can be operated from the app as well. Also, the machine makes ice as quickly as they advertise and it keeps it in the bin for longer than I thought it would be. Nicely insulated. I'm very happy I decided to purchase the ice maker. If you're on the edge, take my recommendation to buy it! You won't be sorry!

We bought one just over 2 years ago… it lasted one year… he replaced it with a refurbished unit… that has been going out the last few weeks and is now barley making ice… for the price of these things I’d hope it would last much much longer… never again and I’d suggest you don’t get one

First, it works. I constantly hear that ice makers break, no worries so far. Two, services our family of 5 without capacity issues. Our fridge ice maker was routinely depleted, so this has been a great add. Third, water attachment is very convenient, easy to fill with filtered water.

Had it for about 5 months now. It has been working flawlessly. For a household of 2, the side tank was not needed. Water refilled about once a week or so. The key thing is to only use distilled water. It will help prevent a lot of problem. Another thing I noted in other reviews about water leaking. I had water leakage once and quickly realized it’s completely user error. When the ice bin is full, do not refill the water to the max line. The app has very basic function, schedule on and off, and turning on/off/dim the light. My wish list is for GE to add a function to schedule the light individually. My only complaint is it can get loud sometimes, usually when water is close to being empty.

This ice maker is easy to operate, all you do is add water. The ice is chewable and awesome--not even sure if Sonic's ice is this good. You'll need to clean it on a regular schedule, especially if you're in an area with really hard water like I am. I got the side water tank, which makes this extremely hands-free. Only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is b/c its a little loud when making ice, but outside of that, its a great ice machine.

I only use distilled water and this thing is fantastic! We have 4 women and 2 kids that are addicted to chewable ice and there is always a full container waiting for them with this wonderful machine. The side tank makes it super easy to monitor and refill. I leave it on 24/7 and the lighted ice tray makes a wonderful night light as well as making the ice look clean and inviting.
