I love this ice maker! We were constantly running out of ice from the freezer and living in Florida, iced drinks are a necessity. It is quiet, efficient, and easy to use. It is also easy to clean. With this great appliance, we all drink more water now. We are so happy with this purchase.

Very quiet machine with the best crunchy ice! Family and guests enjoy it so much! It makes ice extremely quick so even with a lot of use, it replenishes fast and ice is always available. I also love the tech features and interface. Straight forward and easy to use as well.

Purchased the GE Opal Ice Maker 2.0 in December of 2022 (three months in as of this writing) and had problems from the first week. I was only using tap water, and so the scaling would cause the loudest squealing (neighbors could hear it) when defrosting (1-2 times daily). I purchased the GE water filtration system, but the design wouldn’t allow enough water to get through causing a “Add Water” error. I was doing a clean cycle once a week and the maintenance was driving me crazy, to the point I almost took it back. Finally did a deep descaling with vinegar and started purchasing Distilled Water, and now it runs beautifully. So overall, a great working unit, but be prepared to have to purchase Distilled (not filtered) water to get the best no-hassle performance (1-2 gallons per week for a two person household).

I love having an Opal ice maker, this is my second one, first one lasted 5 years. I wish the side water container was bigger since I use everyday several times. I feel like I fill more often then my last one. After a couple of days it wasn’t releasing water to make ice so I switched out cover and started working again. I like the black stainless steel, matches my other stuff. I am also glad that I can set it to start making ice at 4 am so by the time I get up there is enough ice to fill my 2 Stanley’s.

Best counter top ice maker I’ve ever owned. (Had 2 different brands that were half the price but I’m glad I pulled the trigger on the GE finally) First GE lasted 2 years. I didn’t clean it very often. Just bought a second I will take better care of.

We love our new ice maker. It's key to have the side reservoir, so you don't have to refill as often. My two hiccups for it would be the price, it's very expensive, and the it doesn't have a holder for the scoop. We just have it sit on top of the machine. It would be nice if it had a slot on the side to slip it into.

Unpacked my new ice maker on Christmas day, read and followed the cleaning and setup instructions, and 20 minutes later I had what I call 'smunch ice'! I also ordered a supply of Styrofoam cups and lids from a different vendor, and now I have a seemingly endless supply of movie style ice and cold drinks. I love this icemaker and hope it lasts for a long time!

We love the performance of the ice maker, but after using it only four days cannot accept the loud whining sound it makes, Last night we were awakened at 2 am by what is best described is a very loud sound that you hear when they open Dracula's coffin in a horror movie, but louder! We called the vendor to see if this is normal and were told they actually have the same unit and had to turn it off at night and move it into the pantry behind closed doors! That is ridiculous.

This ice maker makes soft ice which is great for drinks and transfers easily into our water bottles. We make ice daily with it and fill up our water bottles, putting them in the refrigerator to add beverages or water as desired. Our biggest challenge was to get in the habit of turning the ice maker on when we get up in the morning as it does take some time to generate the bin full of ice.

I love crunchable ice and have always searched for fast food places with that ice available mainly because I’ve chewed my ice after finishing the drink. Now I don’t have to search for places with that ice in their drinks as I have my own crunchable ice maker. It’s an unbelievable product: quiet, fast icemaking and the bin stays full all day. Best of all, my family enjoys the availability of ice that seems to keep tea and soft drinks colder than cubes.
