It started to make a weird noise early on, and we've been emailing back and forth with support and it's been an arduous process. I wouldn't get this model for sure again. Great idea. Great ice...when it makes and you aren't the laughing stock when everyone hears it sounds like a diesel engine.

I love the ice it makes, and it takes about 2 hours or so to make a good amount of ice. The ice maker is for a family of 2, plenty of ice and never ran out of ice between 2 people, even when we use large 40oz containers. There are a few flaws, cleaning is not that easy. I wish the cleaning is easier or have less things to clean. The second is, you can't connect a water line to this. For something that I need to refill twice a week, I'm willing to split off the fridge line to this ice maker. Especially, I don't use the fridge to make ice any more. The noise is a bit annoying if you're in the same room or the next. But it's fine. Last gripe about this, water drips once you open door to get ice out. The tray it comes with does catches it. With the flaws, it's still a very good ice maker. One thing you should consider is to use filtered water and not use tap water. Tap water (depending where you live), it could make you clean this more often. Leaving hard water in the lines are very hard to clean. I don't use the GE filter because it didn't seem like it would be as good as my own water filter. The price is a bit high for a "ice maker" but if you like the nugget ice, or like chomping on ice and you got the money for it. This one is legit.

Worked great for almost two months, then started making this loud crying/screeching sound. Turned off and on about 3 hrs later and it was fine for 1/2 day and now making that sound again. So expensive to be having issues like this. Will call customer service

I was skeptical at first but once this is up and running it makes ton ice. We use distilled water to keep minerals from building up. There has been a couple times it made few weird noises but it went away and the machine works great. We leave it on all day very day.

The ice is small, soft, nugget ice, my wife and kids loved it when they could get it. However, I could only make about one glass of ice before it would make a horrible grinding screeching noise that was audible through the whole house and required me to shut it off and let the whole thing sit for a while. So, that was pretty annoying and underwhelming.

This is a great product. Easy to use, makes fantastic ice and looks great sitting on the counter. We love 'Sonic Ice'--if you've ever had a drink from the Sonic Food Chain, you know what I am talking about. The ice is soft and keeps drinks cold for a long time. It is a great addition to our kitchen and our friends love it.

I have always wanted a nugget ice maker. So when my ice maker in my freezer broke for second time I researched ice makers and this one had the best reviews. It cost way more than the others, but definitely worth it! I love that I can turn it on and off with my phone. Also love love love the water container connected to the side.

I had the original Opal and it unfortunately but the dust after several years of everyday use. The family loves the ice so much we immediately went out and purchased the Opal 2.0 and we couldn’t be happier. Some very nice updates to the ice bin itself (stopper for the bin when you pull it out) and the additional buttons/notifications are great along with the 3 lighting options. You’ve got a fam for life!

My wife really wanted one of these because she drinks a lot of water and LOVES the ice from Son1c. We got this and there is both good and bad. Bad first - it seems that it shouldn't be this expensive. Second - Ours started making a screeching noise randomly in the very first week. This is actually a known problem so I'm not sure why it is still happening. On the plus side, it really does make great ice and it is cleaver how it reuses ice melt to keep the bin full and reduce refills. In the end, we are exchanging our first unit for a new one, but for sure keeping, and loving it.

We have 7 kids and 4 adults who all love ice! Out poor refrigerator could not keep up and during the summer months we would go through 10-15 pounds of store bought ice. we enjoy how fast it produces ice, the storage capacity, the ability to create a schedule, and the cube style!
