We absolutely LOVE our ice machine. It was not working for a bit and we PANICKED! No worries we figured out that the side tank was not level and all is well now (Whew). The only reason it does not get 5 STAR is due to the I swine price and the fact that it does make noises that irritate me especially after cleaning cycles. I have owned one other brand and this one is by far the BEST CHOICE! Especially with our Texas heat.

The ice is fantastic and the unit is much smaller than my previous ice maker. It was a little bit to get started but I should have read the instructions more. The water filter caused it to stop working and the wireless will not connect. I would like to get those both working for the price it cost. But overall it makes great ice quickly!

I wish I had this ice maker al my life. My kids say it’s the best part of our house. It does a great job and keeping up with my family and friends. The little nugget ice is soooo good. My co-workers always ask me to bring them a cup of ice too! I highly recommend this product!

Noisy, obnoxious, high maintenance appliance. Maybe got one year of use when it finally blew up. Bad compressor or something. Our unit did not allow for waterl connection like fridge ice maker. If water was less than half full, the noises began but ultimately went full time disturbing.

We've been through 3 countertop ice makers. I decided to give this one a try, because I was tired of cheap ones that broke. Like a lot of people, i had an Add Water issue in the beginning. However, once I made sure the tank hose wasn't bent wrong, it worked perfectly. Makes the perfect ice for enjoying with your drink, or for making protein shakes, smoothies or other type drinks. Compared to our others, it is quiet (yes, some are some squeaks if you run it constantly for hours on end, but that is just from the process and you don't hear it unless it is completely quiet). It looks great in the kitchen and the lights add a pleasant effect at night. I highly recommend the product.

We received our Opal 2.0 and installed it today so these are my first impressions. Make sure the wall you put the unit by isn't against and office or bedroom; this is an ice maker, so it does have a hum and some vibration. It’s not horrible but not whisper quiet either. Go through the first cleaning before you get the unit settled and make sure you write down the info on the back before you settle the appliance into its final position. (Wi-Fi password, Model number, serial number) The drain hose on the unit should be longer, it will not reach the edge of the counter for a bucket from front to back. The manual could use a little more effort, especially the section on setting up the application and Wi-Fi. If you were smart and bought Opal 2.0 you will want to download the SmartHQ app for GE Appliances and then follow the instructions in the app. It would be helpful for GE to make a how-to video or setting up the unit for first use and ship it with a QR code for people to watch for setup. I've seen this a lot with other products, and it make life 1000x better.

I am so impressed with my opal ice maker! It's easy to set up, easy to use and with the smart HQ app I can turn it on form work and have fresh ice waiting for me when I get home! BEST purchase I have made in years should have got one a long time ago.

I love this ice maker. Small ice that’s easy to chew- my dog loves it and demands pieces when I’m refreshing my drink. Only downside is it became loud after a couple of months due to vibration. If I hold the sides of the maker it’s as quiet as ever, but dang it makes a racket now.

I was hesitant at first spending the money on this product. However,!!!!! GE has surpassed my expectations again!!! I have read several bad reviews about this product. I have found if you follow the easy installation instructions all will be fine. I have not had any issues. It is pretty quiet. A little heavy but I feel like that makes me feel like it is made well. Perfect ice. I bought this mainly because my family is coming over for a few weeks and they go through all of my ice. Well, I fixed the issue. Now they will think I am sophisticated.

The ice maker makes the nugget, 'Sonic' ice that was desired. However, it is quite loud (especially as it ages and marches toward its demise). Lasted 3ish years and support spends time telling you to do what you've already done, but then there's no real fixing it. Don't really love disposable products, can't these be built to last and/or built to be fixed?
