I love the Opal ice maker, but the only the test of time can determine how good this next version is. I had the first version and did all of the regular maintenance and cleaning and it still didn’t last beyond a bit more than a year. I decided to give this ice maker another chance and purchased the 2.0 version in hopes that they fixed some of the issues with the previous version. If this thing holds up for a few years, then I’d say it’s an amazing product.

We love the ice and the machine so far but have only had it around 45 days it was easy to set up and was making ice in just a short time after it arrived. The capacity is small but for a family of two it is certainly adequate. Makes ice fast. Only item I can’t get to work is connection to WiFi/Bluetooth. App says it can’t find the appliance. Other than that it works great

We love the ice that it produces, but not sure of a few discomfort things for the ice and price. We find it pretty noisy. Its located in our kitchen (open type floor plan) and it can be heard though out the open area. It also make squeaking noises at times that sound like it needs to be oiled. When getting the ice out of the ice bucket, water leaks down the front of the unit into the drip tray. Not sure how the stainless will hold up over time and the tray constantly has water in it. We are a family of 5 and use a good bit of ice throughout the day.

We've had 4 countertop icemakers over the past 4-5 years. They've all been disappointing as they had sporadic problem and eventually failed. Luckily, we had the extended warranty and they were replaced or our $$ was refunded. THIS GE however, has been a pleasant surprise! It makes ice at a pretty good pace, it's quiet and the side tank is a GREAT feature! You can easily see when it needs water and it's a snap to add! Once in a while it does "squeal" for a minute when it's drawing water from the tak, but that's very brief. Overall, this has been a great machine so far and I'd definitely buy it again!

Pros are the ice producers is almost exactly like sonic ice as expected. It also produces ice at a reasonable rate although the storage capacity is limited. Corns the maintenance and future maintenance is time-consuming. The directions and getting it to operate online and in the boxing are terrible. There are words that light up on the front of the machine that you would have no idea are there have they not flashed on and off during the installation process. The Wi-Fi directions are useless online although it direct you to utilising them to connect every other GE product with only one exception the icemaker.

I bought this ice maker with the money I won from my disability case. I have a ton of health issues and have been issuing bagged ice for a while now and my hands and back don’t like me picking them up. I bought this machine to help me get ice easily as I use tons of it a day and esp if I have company over it’s worked great I would def buy it again

I was hesitant about this at first, but after purchasing this unit I am more than pleased with it. Set up is extremely easy, but please make sure you go through the initial cleaning process it's a good thing to make sure it's ready to roll. I also suggest purchasing (not included unfortunately) the water filter. Ice is made quickly and like everyone points out is the "soft" small nugget Ice. I think this is an absolute winner. You can control the unit via the app or also with your voice with Alexa and or Google. Worth the investment!

I looked everywhere for a machine that made this restaurant type of ice. I saw Opal back when it was a startup but it was too expensive for me and the reviews weren’t great. Now that GE took over and seem to have worked out the bugs, the ratings have improved. It makes a lot of ice and is perfect for those of us who snack on it.

We have an open kitchen and living room and I love that I can program it to start about an hour before I get up and have fresh ice. But also if the husband is snoring too bad and I wanna sleep on the couch in silence I don't hear it running all night. Friends come over to visit and always ask to take a cup of ice home with them.

We've been debating making the leap to a home soft pellet machine but glad we did. Although it's a big hit on the budget, it has been producing plenty of ice and we no longer need to pay for it at our local Sonic. Much softer than theirs also. My wife has been using the ice all day and night.
