We have been using the Opal nugget ice maker for years, and it has been great so far. The ice it creates is excellent and cannot be improved upon. The machine operates quietly. The size is great. The only issue we had was with Wi-Fi connectivity, but support was able to assist us with that. We recently upgraded the water tank capacity, and it was the best decision, as we now have to refill the tank less frequently. Overall, the installation is simple, and if you want a lot of ice, then this product is for you.

I purchased this ice maker on 12/4/23. As of 8/15/24 it's making an extremely loud banging noise and cannot be used. I use this ice maker heavily and was happy with it, until now. I descale it every 2-3 weeks so maintenance on my part isn't lacking. I'm currently attempting to contact GE support today 8/19/24, will update this review with the outcome.

I owned one of the very first original Opal made by FirstBuild. It finally gave out after 5 years of daily use. When I bought this model I expected a slight upgrade over the original but I was pleasantly surprised to find it is much better! The extra side tank is an excellent addition and reduces the need for daily filling. The app gives much better information and control over the operation of the ice maker.

I love this ice machine! I’ve been wanting this machine for a while and finally pulled the trigger and purchased it. Although it took longer than I anticipated to figure out how to set it up when it was all said and done it was worth the time. Buy the machine….you won’t regret it!

It came 3 days early. I was sick so I didn't get it set up right away. But, when I did, it worked great. It was well packed. Between the instructions and the pictures, we were able to get it up and running. A few slight problems but not too hard to do. I love the ice. It is just like Sonic Ice. It keeps up with our needs.

Love the convenience of having a tabletop ice maker, makes ice fast, just the right size, and the side reservoir minimizes having to refill. I did read some of the other reviews and am concerned about a screeching noise that other owners have posted, plus the defrost issue.

This ice maker is so much quieter and solid compared to the Opal Nugget Ice Maker I bought last year. It only lasted a little over a year and luckily I bought the extended warranty. I bought my parents the Opal and theirs died at the same time. Excellent ice maker in all aspects and hoping it lasts. I would recommend buying the additional warranty.

We love it so far! Makes great ice and faster than expected! Only complaint is the instructions for setup- did a bunch of ge summer interns who came back from a work happy hour hammered write them? They made zero sense. I threw them out and it was much easier from there

Hi - I just this morning unboxed, cleaned and set up my new Opal 2.0 ice maker. It was easy and directions were clear. It took a bit of timer to first clean with a bleach solution and follow that up with rinsing flushes (3) to clear bleach. Started making my first batch of ice. Comes out runny wat first but within 30 minutes everything is working. Ice tastes (and chews) great. I bough the model with the side tank and glad I did as nearly the whole tank emptied in first round. I will want to keep that full so I keep making ice. I know it says not to put finished ice in freezer, but I’m going to try it anyway and see how it does. We use a lot of ice and always want to have enough on hand. We have a reverse osmosis system so expecting excellent store-bought quality or better. I’ll repost after a few weeks and let you know how it’s going.
